Version0.8.2 HOTFIX for the Ending

Fixes
If you tried to play past Act 3, your game might crash b/c a certain music file is not found. (I had an .mp3 extension instead of an .ogg extension) No one told me about this and it was still working on my machine for whatever reason.

Balance
Endless Boost -> Lose 2 Dex -> Lose 2 Dex. If most right, lose 1 less.
Sonic Boom -> 3 Cost.
Turbulence -> If not most left: Lose 2 Focus -> Lose 2 Focus. If most left, lose 1 less.
Taunt -> Branching Upgrades 2(3) Temporary Dex. 2(3) Vulnerable.

Version0.8.1 Googly Eyes, Mission + Rouge Event, Bounce Pad is Starter

New Events
- Mission Event! In the Beyond, you have the choice of 3 different rooms, each equipped with a mission and enemies. The more efficient you are, the better your reward! (reward only offers more gold at this time)
- Ring Race: Fight the Bronze Automaton. Exhaust 20 cards.
- Score Attack: Fight the Transient. Deal maximum damage!
- Time Attack: Fight 3 Sleeping Lagavulins. Win ASAP.

- Rouge the Bat Event! She will randomly pick an uncommon card from your deck and ask you to trade it for 2 Assist cards. If you decline the trade, she will steal some of your gold! But your uncommon card gets a Magic Hands modifier (retain, but if exhausted then enter wrath).
- If you have no uncommon cards, it will be a rare card, trading for 3 assists.
- If the card is in a bottle, it cannot be traded. So she'll just give up and go away, but you get the modifier anyway.
- If you have no uncommon or rare cards, she will offer to heal you instead. You also lose 2 Max HP.

Fixes
Added a failsafe for every while loop. Just in case.
Assist Barry - Fixed his upgrade.
Assist Blaze - Removed Blaze's glow trigger. Idr the intention behind this.
Assist Silver - Fixed his missing description power.
Blue Bomber - Fixed glow trigger where if enemies were vulnerable, it would glow.
Crest of Fire - When the cards pop up on the screen, it should show upgraded cards on pop up

Balance
Assist Big - Put 1 card from the draw pile into your hand. Exhaust. -> Scry 3. Draw 1 card.
Assist Blaze - Flame Barrier mimic -> 1 Cost. Ethereal. Gain 4(6) Block and 4(6) Flame Barrier for each enemy.
I looked to Sonic's Boost (Deal 4 damage to all enemies) for inspiration and wanted to draw a parallel. Assists are supposed to be good enough to be a uncommon/rare.
Assist Espio - Gain 5(7) Block. Add 2(3) Shivs to your hand. -> Gain 3(6) Block. Add 2 Shivs to your hand. If you haven't played any attacks, add 1 more.
Assist Knuckles - Cost 0. Whenever you attack this turn, gain 3 Block. -> Cost 1. Gain 2 Temporary Strength. Whenever you attack this turn, gain 3 Block.
Assist Rouge - Cost 0. Discard 3(2) cards. Gain 2 Energy -> Cost 0. Gain 2 Temporary Dexterity. Discard 3(2) cards. Gain 2 Energy.

Bounce Pad - It's now a starter card with a branching upgrade! Choose between gaining 2 rings or let the card stay in your hand for one more play! (Really should've used the Persist keyword here, but I didn't realize it until I already came up w/ my own solution)
Homing Attack - You no longer gain 1 Ring. The branching upgrade is Persist.
Sonic Wave - If you have any Orbs channeled, Evoke all Orbs twice and exhaust -> If you have no empty orb slots, Evoke All Orbs twice and Exhaust
Turbulence - You can avoid the focus loss if it's most left.

Balance - Undo
Hailstorm 6(8) -> 7(9) damage
Hailstorm is a difficult card to use consistently.

Media
Added Googly Eyes! You must have the Googly Eyes mod enabled to see.

Added beta art (from the Sonic movie!). They will also show up if you are confused.

New Cards
Charmy - Apply 2 Dizzy. Channel 2 Lightning.
Espio - Gain 5(7) Block. Add 2(3) Shivs to your hand.
Vector - Gain 3 Vigor. Put 1 card from your discard pile to the top of your draw pile.

Config
If you don't like Sonic having 1 orb, you can enable 3 orbs and Sonic will start with a Three Chao relic. The default is false.

Fixes
Athleticism - Re-enabled
Player 2 Relic - Fixed the out-of-turn text pop ups.
Light Speed Dash - Has Healing tag so it shouldn't spawn via Dead Branch
Voice - If other characters play Sonic's cards, do not play the voice clip.

Balance
Drift - If any character other than Sonic plays Drift or if Sonic has Three Orbs enabled in the config, the Drift action will activate the passive effect 2 times instead of 3.
Spinning Needle Attack - 2(4)X damage of new card's cost -> 1(2)X damage of new card's cost

Media
If you have Downfall loaded, Metal Sonic's icon will replace the Player 2 relic icon.

Speed Break - Instead of being unable to draw additional cards, you take 3 damage.

Cards
Assist - Silver - Scry 3. Next turn, ALL enemies lose 6 Strength for one turn. Exhaust.
Blue Bomber - 2 Cost. Deal 12 damage. Dexterity and Rings affect this card 3(5) times.
The name is a reference to a POW move from Sonic Dark Brotherhood where Tails drops Sonic on top of an enemy. I took some liberty with this reference by focusing on how sturdy Sonic is when Tails is throwing him at enemies like he's dropping bombs. This makes more sense with Hailstorm's reference.
Hailstorm - 1 Cost. Deal 7(9) damage 1 time. This hits an additional time for each time you've drawn this card.
Another POW move reference. Except this time, Tails is dropping Sonic, Amy is hammering Sonic, and Knuckles is punching Sonic, and repeat (bouncing Sonic like a Soccer ball). This POW move hits the enemy 7 times in the original game. Ofc, anything with 7 attacks is OP in StS, so liberties ahoy. Meant to synergize w/ Smooth Landing.
One thing to note: Hailstorm will not increment its hits if you use Hologram/Secret Weapon/Seek/Big/Barry/Attack Potion/Dead Branch to add to your hand. I'm not sure why those cards do not trigger it as a draw, and it is a little frustrating, but until I can figure out how to work around that, it will be a permanent bug.

Spinning Needle Attack - 0 Cost. Spin Up. Draw 1 card and randomize its cost. Deal 8 damage. This deals additional damage equal to the draw's cost 2(4) times.
Reference from Sonic Unleashed, Lego Dimensions, and maybe even Smash's forward air. It's a move focused on mobility. Mobility tends to be associated with draw in StS.

Media
AMAZING giant text pop up and sound will only pop up for people who have Voice Freq at 10.
Gizoid is no longer available in Assists
I don't really know if the giant text pop up is annoying to people.

Fire Soul - NEW Shop Relic - Gives 1 Block before using Crest of Fire Cards. Each time you visit a rest site, increase this relic's block!

Events
Winding Hall - OVERRIDE EVENT - You can still embrace the madness, but I included a little option. You should NOT get Winding Halls AND this event. Please report if you do and mention if you have
Enable custom events for all characters (overwrites the next option)
and/or
Enable custom events for only Sonic
checked.

Fixes
Dash Panel - no longer exhausts powers
Shadow - shows Ethereal on his card description.
Slot Machine Game - shows gold text correctly.
Relax+ - Enters Wrath when picking Wrath.
Relax+ - Only shuffles 1 Relax+ instead of 2 unupgraded copies.
Relax+ - Copies are not ethereal.
Relax+ - Stops loading the angry image if the card is upgraded.

Balance
Quick Air 5 -> 7 block
If most left is the hardest keyword to activate. You need Slide, maybe have excess amounts of energy, AND use up ALL of your Shortcuts.
Quick Step 5 -> 7 block
If most right is the easiest condition out of the gate, but it's getting a buff anyway b/c I like these two cards to be equal.

Cards
Meteor Kick - NEW - Otherwise known as Down Air or Spike from Smash. Deal 7(9) damage. Deal an addition 7(9) damage if target is Vulnerable.

Quality of Life
Crest of Fire - Fire counter token
Do Not Throw - Now shows a little hand underneath the energy, reminding you to hold the card instead of exhausting it.
Player 2 Relic - Now shows TWO numbers. The top number is what turn you're on. The bottom number is how many cards you've played.
Text Pop Ups - Tricks, AMAZING (the power), and Player 2 Relic show texts on the screen. I have no idea if it works on other computers as well as it does mine, so the option to disable them is here.

Relics
Blue Quill - New Starter Relic: Add a Shortcut to your hand.
Blue Quill Plus - Boss Swap: Add 3 Shortcuts to your hand.
RingKeeper - Depreciated. It encourages stalling.
Classic Mode - The same thing as RingKeeper, but w/o the keeping. Only available via config.
Emblem and Emblem+ - Depreciated. Too OP.
Chao - Now has a Free Action campfire to evolve! Also, Elise's leg is blocking the text. Oops. She will have to go away soon.

New Cards
Shortcut - Lowers the cost of one card in your hand for this turn. Can only be obtained via Blue Quill

Fixes
Assist - It should show up in the card pool now. Also fixed the save/load feature.
Strike - 6(8) -> 6(9)
Blast Processing - Ignores Free to Play cards (for instance, created cards from attack/skill potions)
Declare all cards to be unseen in order to make sure Crest of Fire cards are unlockable.
Falcon Punch - Stops from asking to exhaust something when you kill an enemy
Dizzy and Windmill should work on offclass cards now.

Balance
Rings now only give Temporary HP. Light Speed Dash will still heal you.
Bounce Pad - 6 Block -> 5 Block
Bounce Pad - Back to only Rings. Too flexible.
Foot Sweep - 6 -> 7 dmg
Fire Tackle - Now upgrades damage by 1 to be more viable
Fire Somersault - Now upgrades damage by 1 to be more viable
Heavy Bounce Slam - 1 -> 2 cost. 8(10) damage -> 10(12) damage.
Homing Attack - 8(9) -> 8(10) damage
Horse Kick - 14(18) -> 14(16) damage
Peelout - Draw 3 Exhaust 1. -> Exhaust 1. Draw 3.
Quick Air - 6 Block -> 5 Block

Teaser - Removed Spin Up. I have determined Teaser is not strong enough on its own to warrant Spin up and Dark orbs need synergy to really pop off. Hence the change on Sonic Wave.
Turbulence - 2 -> 1 cost

07/09/2025 01:36 AM hotfix for Slot Machine Eggman.

The first time you draw 2 Eggman cards, you enter Wrath. However, the second time you draw them, you did not. This fixes it so that you can reliably go into Wrath if you draw two a 2nd time.

Cards

Blast Off - Uncommon -> Special. No longer available due to the fact we have so many ways to gain energy: Dash Panel, Grind Rail, Dizzy Spin, Speed Break, Secret Route.
Bounce Pad - Add 1 Ring -> Add 1 Ring or Add 1 Trick to your hand.
Fire Tackle -> Common -> Uncommon. There's no synergy with any other card except for the Crest of Fire cards.
Heavy -> Spin Up. One more clause: Whenever this card's cost is randomized, lower the new cost by 1.
Light Speed Attack - 2 cost -> 3. We have Vigor. We now have a relic that gives us Rings. We have stance cards that gives us Wrath. It deserves the 3 cost.
Enerbeam -> Removed Heavy/Spin Up.
Momentum -> No longer exhausts.
Momentum -> Upgrade used to be set cost to zero. Upgrade is now gain Vigor by the number of cards in exhaust pile AND hand size. (The idea is to make this card a LOT better than Ramp Jump)
Rocket Accel - Deal 32 damage -> Deal 28 damage. Modify two random attacks in your hand to deal 4 more damage.
Slot Machine Eggman -> Instead of immediately ending your turn, enter Wrath.
Secret Route - Heal 2, Gain Energy, Draw 2 is now Draw 2 cards and lower their cost by 1 for this turn.
Speed Up -> No longer exhausts.
Sky Ring -> Common -> Special. No longer available.
Sonic Wind -> Common -> Special. No longer available. It just seems really weak and doesn't really have any synergy w/ anything except for Sonic Wave, Thunder Shield, and maybe Smooth Landing.
