Patch 58

  • Fixed an issue where equipped lanterns would turn off upon unpossessing.
  • Fixed an issue where disabled equipped items would partially re-enable themselves upon awakening an item or during a game save.
  • Fixed a crash that would occur if both a host action and the unpossess action were performed within the same network tick.

Update: 13 Sep @ 2:52pm

Patch 57

  • Fixed an issue introduced in the previous patch where Wieneke would no longer gain dapperness effects from clothing after possessing/unpossessing once.

Update: 12 Sep @ 5:16pm

Patch 56

  • The accumulation rate for Wieneke's Possession Pains has been increased (10% > 20% of damage taken during possession).
  • Possession Pains now accumulate at an increased rate if taking planar damage (40% of planar damage taken during possession).
  • The maximum natural raw damage level of possessed creatures has been reduced (68 > 59.5).
  • Wieneke's inherent insulation granted during possession has been reduced (90 > 60).
  • When possessing an item or structure, enemies will now keep their aggro onto Wieneke for 5 seconds where applicable. Awakening an item extends the timer.
  • Wieneke can no longer eat Pure Brilliance and Pure Horror to permanently convert part of her damage output to planar during possession.
  • Equipped items can now be toggled on/off during possession. This may be done either by clicking on the item's icon, or pressing the 1, 2, or 3 keys. If an item is toggled off, none of its effects are granted to Wieneke (both positive and negative, including the new effects described below).
  • Equipped items can now provide effects to possessed creatures.
  • Weapons now provide 25% of their damage to possessed creatures. This bonus is considered in raw damage units: For example, if a creature deals 34 raw damage (i.e. the same DPS as a survivor with a spear) and Wieneke is also holding a spear, the creature's damage output will be increased by 25%.
  • For creatures that deal a flat amount of damage, such as the Clockwork Rook, a linearly scaling damage increase is granted instead, up to +25% at 81.9 weapon damage.
  • When hovering the mouse over an equipped weapon during possession, the exact damage increase for that creature/weapon combo will be displayed.
  • If a planar weapon is equipped, a possessed creature's damage output will be converted to be part planar, at the same ratio as the weapon.
  • Each time a possessed creature hits an enemy while a weapon is equipped, the weapon loses one use.
  • Armour now provides both its absorption and planar defense to possessed creatures. The protection provided depends on the creature's max health, scaling linearly: At 120 max health or below, a creature benefits of 100% of the armour's protection value. At 2000 max health or above, only 20% of the armour's protection value is considered.
  • If an armour piece does not fully protect a possessed creature due to its high max health value, the remainder of the protection amount instead reduces Wieneke's incoming Possession Pains.
  • Note: Just like with regular survivors, if multiple armour pieces are worn, only the highest damage absorption is granted: However, armour damage is distributed between all the pieces. Planar defense of course stacks as normal.
  • When hovering the mouse over an equipped armour piece during possession, the exact protection/Possession Pains reduction value for that creature/armour combo will be displayed.
  • Items that normally increase walk speed now also increase the movement speed of possessed creatures. Moving quicker thanks to an equipped item drains an equivalent amount of hunger compared to how much speed is granted.
  • The Life-Giving Amulet now restores 5 + 5% of a possessed creature's health every 30 seconds, costing 5 hunger each time. If the creature dies while the amulet is equipped, it is instantly resurrected, puts all nearby enemies to sleep, and recovers 33% of the creature's maximum health.
  • The Bat Bat now restores 6.8 + 0.5% of a possessed creature's health each time an attack is successfully delivered. Wieneke's sanity also drains by 3.4 each time.
  • Where applicable, creatures now stop talking upon being possessed.
  • Fixed an issue with possessed Corvus Goodfeather where, if movement was started/stopped at a specific interval, he would run much faster.
  • Fixed an issue where Wieneke's heart meter would stop softly glowing during possession when Possession Pains were accumulated.
  • Fixed an issue where W.A.R.B.O.T./Celestial Scion would not play its unique boss music.

Update: 24 Aug @ 10:52pm

  • Possessed Clockwork Bishops and MacTusk no longer have their base damage reduced by 33%.

  • A Possessed Summer Koalefant now deals elevated raw damage in winter (51 > 68), and gains 5% extra speed in other seasons. Additionally, they always grant 30 winter insulation and 10% waterproofness.
  • The waterproofness of a possessed Moose/Goose has been increased (25% > 50%).

  • A possessed Deerclops now grants 120 winter insulation.
  • A possessed Bearger now grants 90 winter insulation.
  • The attack range of a possessed Clockwork Bishop has been increased (6 > 10).
  • The attack range of a possessed MacTusk has been increased (8 > 10).
  • The attack-prey-scare chance of a possessed MacTusk has been reduced (0.5x > 0.3x).
  • Shielding as a possessed Rock Lobster now drains more hunger over time (2x > 3x).
  • Some host tip texts have been tweaked.
  • Hovering over your possessed creature's icon in the host tip screen now displays winter insulation (Toasty +X), summer insulation (Breezy +X), and waterproofness (Rainproof +X%).
  • A ★ symbol is now prefixed to icon-host-tips that grant active effects (such as being able to carry heavy items) and a ☆ symbol is prefixed to passive effects (such as speed or insulation).
  • The responsiveness and accuracy of the host tip screen has been improved.
  • A possessed Mandrake's wail can now affect players in PvP, and can no longer affect structures such as beehives.
  • Fixed an issue where amphibious creatures would be able to swim in the caves void.
  • Fixed an issue where unresolved Possession Pains would apply too quickly when loading back into a save, meaning a portion would be absorbed by loading invulnerability.
  • Fixed an issue where, if a possessed Dragonfly killed its main attack target with its ground pound before having stomped 3 times, and there were other combat candidates nearby, the attack would be interrupted.
  • Fixed an issue where a possessed Dragonfly's ground pound attack would queue up the next attack immediately if 3 targets were hit at once, rather than only doing so after 3 stomps were performed.
  • Fixed an issue where possessed creatures would not stop their movement during an emote animation.
  • Fixed an issue re-introduced in a recent patch where, when hopping between boat and land during possession, the host would briefly jitter in place before returning control to the player.

Update: 16 Aug @ 8:05pm

Patch 54

  • The damage cap limit for awakened creatures has been significantly reduced (25 > 1).
  • The maximum amount of damage taken per hit for possessed creatures has been lowered (45% of max HP > 30% of max HP).
  • A new visual effect has been added for when damage taken during possession has been capped off.
  • Wieneke now suffers Possession Pains when damage is capped off, equivalent to the amount negated.
  • The range of a possessed Mandrake's Wail action has been increased (15 > 20).
  • The induced sleep time of a possessed Mandrake's Wail action has been increased (20 > 25).
  • A possessed Mandrake's Wail action can no longer affect companions, shadow creatures, lunar-aligned creatures, or fellow survivors.
  • If a creature hears a possessed Mandrake's wail, but cannot naturally be put to sleep, it will be killed instead. This effect does not apply to creatures that have more than 500 health.
  • A possessed Spider Warrior can now leap in any direction, even without a target. The spacebar key may now also be used to trigger it.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when hovering the mouse over Growth Formula.

Update: 12 Aug @ 4:12pm

Patch 53

  • Wieneke's Damage Tolerance mechanic has been removed, and in its place a new mechanic has been added: Possession Pains.
  • During possession, 10% of all damage taken is recorded as Possession Pains.
  • When Wieneke unpossesses, she will take all accumulated Pains damage after a brief delay.
  • She can only hold onto 90 damage total. If Wieneke would drop below 30 health with her current accumulated pains, she gets kicked out of her host.
  • Any healing that puts her above her maximum health value also recovers Possession Pains. For example, if she ate a food that recovers 60 HP while at 90 HP, 30 points will be deducted from Pains, meaning you don't have to wait for the damage to be dealt before you can heal it.
  • Taking temperature damage during possession no longer imposes a hunger drain, but instead adds onto accumulated Pains.
  • The configuration option for Damage Tolerance has also been replaced to configure Possession Pains instead.
  • Wieneke's Creamy Potato Purée buff now reduces the rate at which Possession Pains accumulate by 33%.
  • Salsa Fresca and Soothing Tea no longer grant unique buffs. Different buffs for these foods may be added in the future.
  • The lingering speed boost granted by wind gusts has been increased (5% > 12.5%).
  • The speed boost granted by wind gusts now pauses while standing still.
  • Possessed Clockwork Rooks and Bearger now get wind gusts while running.
  • The distance at which wind gusts are collected now increases with the possessed creature's physics radius.
  • You may now review a possessed creature's base speed bonus by hovering over its icon in your player examine menu.
  • Fixed an issue where stale or spoiled foods would not show the text prefix when hovering over their items (for example, "Stale Meatballs" would show as "Meatballs").
  • Fixed an issue introduced in a recent patch where attacks during possession were not queued properly if the left mouse button was held down.
  • Fixed an issue where a possessed enraged Dragonfly would constantly interrupt its ground-pound attack if the attack key was held down.
  • Fixed a rare issue where, if the action key was held down or rapidly pressed while in the possess animation, you would be able to pick yourself up if the host in question was an item.
