Update: 3 Jun, 2021 @ 10:34am

Main changes:

Incorporated Modular Navigation & Combat System by Pufferfish and Neottious!

  • MNCS is "a map system that may be extended with many modules which serve navigation or combative purposes." Current modules allow it to function as a map, targetable RADAR, and terrain LIDAR system.
  • Includes HATS and LIDAR modules.
  • Cockpit rearranged to fit a new 5x3 overhead monitor for MNCS functionality.

Incorporated Dynamic Positioning by Hunter Falkner!
  • This replaces the old 4x Azimuth Controller which, while mostly functional, had some problems and lacked most of the features that DPS has.
  • Controls are located on the same popup 2x2 monitor as before; however there is now a new flip switch labeled MANUAL MANEUVER which enables manual control over the maneuvering thrusters. This switch also causes an instrument panel with arrow buttons to pop out and hit you in the face; the buttons are used for rotating the ship.
  • As part of implementing this system the Ifrit now has 4 fore and 4 aft tunnel thrusters, and the forward azipods have been moved slightly wider apart.
  • As of now I'd call DPS implementation a success, but it's not perfect. The azipods are pretty weak, and the fact that they're retractable makes it difficult to beef them up without gutting a lot of the stern.

Other changes:
  • Rearranged and consolidated engine/fuel display to a single 3x3 hud.
  • Tweaked the anchors a bit so they are (hopefully) less likely to clip into the hull.
  • Mastcam now has touchscreen controls instead of using the helm seat axes (needed those for DPS control). The camera controls currently overlay on top of the compass and speed display on the forward hud, which looks ugly but doesn't really impede their functioning. I'll fix this eventually.
