Omi-Landing-Facility

Description
Omicron Landing Facility

Base designed for providing a level landing area for mid to semi-large sized capital vessels. It can be deployed on level to semi-rough terrain, although it will need some modification in truly rough terrain.

This is a PVE Survival Base with several elements designed for look. It is too fragile to survive in a PVP environment and may not do well in higher security (difficulty) planets without some modification.

Specifications:
* Built using mostly concrete to save on other resources and provide a use for crushed stone.
* Landing platform for mid to semi-large sized capital vessels such as the Hakon and Polaris from Mr. Ice Cat’s Workshop (See links / credits below - Hakon gets a cameo in some of the screen shots.)
* Repair bay for a small vessel or hover vessel.
* Small vessel landing pad on roof of facility.
* Watch Tower
* Crew amenities: Galley, Entertainment Room, Sleeping Quarters, Lavatory and Shower.
* Basic PVE defenses for drones and local hostile fauna.
* x1 Refrigerator
* x2 Cargo boxes
* x5 Small Ammo boxes
* x2 Large and x1 Small Fuel tanks
* x2 Large Oxygen tanks
* Turrets: x1 Cannon, 4x Sentry Gun
* Unlock level: 10 (for earlier deployment – Upgrade the various systems as you see fit.)
* Critical components are encased in heavy steel blocks in two locations for some redundancy.

Deployment:
The base was built on pylons 4 blocks tall to allow it to be deployed on relatively uneven ground. However, even with the pylons, the base is not suited for truly rough terrain without some modification. Because of the pylons, for the most effective deployment, it is recommended to submerge the base into the ground slightly. This can be accomplished by using “Page Down” when spawning the base. (Continue reading on how to get “Page Down” working.) You will want to roughly submerge 1/5 (20%) or less of the spawn box.

Note: Practice spawning the base in creative mode first. There is nothing worse than waiting 2 hours to spawn the base, then have it not spawn where and how you want it. This is usually followed by trying to fix things. You could have half the base crash into the ground due to structural integrity issues. In the other direction, perhaps parts of the base are underground and need to be dug out. Look, don’t frustrate yourself.
1) Practice base deployment in creative mode first.
2) Backup your survival game before you deploy any base that takes a long time in the factory.
3) If things don’t deploy acceptably, restore from backup.
4) If you are more of the iron man/woman type and think backup and restore is considered wimpy, then at least practice in creative mode.
5) If real men/women don’t play in creative mode, well… best of luck to you. I don’t have enough chest hair to qualify or judge.

Note: on using “Page Up” and “Page Down”: As of the Alpha 1.5.4.0424 build this is still somewhat broken. Most of the time “Page Down” will:
1) Do nothing.
2) Will cause the spawn box to jitter.
3) The spawn box will start to submerge, but then after a second snap back to where it was.

Don’t give up hope. It is possible to get “Page Down” to work, but it involves moving your view around and/or changing where you are standing. Sometimes it takes a good part of a minute of (move, page down, change camera view, page down, move, page down, etc.) When you can hit “Page Down” and have the spawn box stay in the ground, you are good to go. Hopefully this will be fixed in the near future.

Further deployment information will be provided in one the screen shots.
Detailed resources list will also be provided in one of the screenshots.

I have found that the ground under the base disappears after placement causing severe structural integrity issues. Has happened in creative, survival, and multiplayer

Please check out Forjo's version (http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=897396074) . His is the Mk III version with several improvements including a greenhouse and better weaponry. I will leave the Mk I release out there in case you are looking to spawn a basic version of OMI that you can build from. This version will spawn at level 5.

Apologize for not updating this base sooner. Life happens. I appreciate the community support making this such a great game.

In any case I replaced the offending obsolete cannon. I also removed anything over unlock level 5 to make it easier to spawn in survival. So the base is using small oxygen and fuel tanks now.

Technically a repair bay block should be added to the “repair bay”. Unfortunately it raises the unlock level. I figure, it is easy enough to spawn the base first and then add the higher tech equipment.

I was tempted to remove the decorative plants, weapons, etc. due to the plastic and Sathium requirement, but it makes the base a little boring. Maybe another time.

@Calyntral -- I took the liberty of posting my version of the OMI (with attribution of course). Feel free to incorporate it if you'd like. Also, I'm happy to unpublish it once you've updated your version to 5.x. Just let me know. :) Here's the link: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=897396074

Было бы не плохо если б база была актуальна для версии 5.5.1+ а то у неё какие то проблемы с совместимостью для этой версии . Создатель если не сложно обнови её ( It would be nice if the base was relevant to version 5.5.1+ and then it is some problem with compatibility for this version . Creator if not difficult to update it )

Hey Calyntral, I don't know if you are aware of the civilian structure thread Hummel posted on Emperion website. I just wanted to see if you wanted to share your creations with the dev team to add to the game. They would look really cool in modular cities. Anyways here is the link:

I hope you join the rest of us builders taking Empyrion to the next level!

Additionally I have been away from the game for a bit, so I haven’t tested this with the latest game build. If they have changed how integrity is calculated, then the base will need to be touched up to add the needed support.

Examples: What if the tower rails no longer support the outside/inward facing glass. What if the material strength and/or ability to support was decreased. All of these could also lead to problems.

Once I break away from my latest game addiction, I will check up on this blueprint and see how it is faring with the latest game engine.

If you want to make adjustments yourself to help address integrity, the easiest way is to spawn the base out in space in creative mode. There you can add/remove/change the needed supports and make a new copy of the blueprint. This is also a good way to make survival or PVP adjustments to the blueprint so that the base is more than just pretty to look at.

Thanks again.

I had run into placement issues myself. As a result, I ended up adding pylons under the base. These usually do their job when you can submerge the base slightly. However I have still found cases where every pylon “appears” to be in the ground and the base still has structural issues.

I think integrity is a common issue with large structures. Before placing new blocks, check the integrity of the base. If you see a red region, attach a new block to any block already connected to the ground near the red region. This will usually recalculate integrity. Or the base comes crashing to the ground, but usually it recalculates integrity.

Practice creative mode and see if there are more effective ways to place the base.

Lastly having all players leave a planet so the server reloads that area, starting and stopping the server and/or restarting the game might help forcing integrity to recalculate. I just don’t consider those the best answers.

Hope that helps.

Thanks all.

Fun base and i love the look. Obviouslya lot of thought and effort went in to making it look fantastic. Big problem tho. Structural integrity is all out of whack. I removed one of the plastic tables and half the bas fell. Lost a bunch of stuff. Later i tried again and just didnt take anything out. I did add 1 constructor tho and when i went to dismantle it to move it later, it brought more than half the base down again and lost a ton of stuff again. I really really want to love this thing but that is a deal breaker for me. Any1 else experience this issue? Maybe there's a fix for it or maybe im placing it in a bad spot? I dunno ...
