Star Wars: New Dawn is a total conversion mod set in the aftermath of Revenge of the Sith, spanning the rise of the Empire and the Galactic Civil War. The mod provides a full overhaul to Stellaris with handmade events, expanded mechanics, and lots of brand new content.

If you are using the "3.14 Legacy" version of the mod, unsub from it when subscribing to this one.





  • Empires
    Play any of dozens of iconic Star Wars factions. Will you crush dissent as the Empire, save the galaxy as the Alliance, or start as an underdog and carve a story all your own?
  • Ships
    Unique shipsets, weapons, and stations bring the conflict to life. Command the Galactic Empire's Star Destroyers or the Mon Calamari cruisers of the Rebel Alliance, the battle-hardened warships of the Mandalorians or the scattered fleets of the Confederacy, mysterious Chiss designs from the Unknown Regions, and many more.
  • Map Choices
    One map, two settings, four sizes each. Play on either the canon map - which starts the player off with preset borders, multiple systems, and access story events - or play on the sandbox map which is a single planet, vanilla-like start.



  • Species
    Over 100 custom species ranging from the iconic Bothans, Ewoks, Hutts, Twi'leks, and Wookiees to the often overlooked Arcona, Ishi Tib, Kubaz, Tiss'shar, and Vagaari.
  • Events
    Follow unique event chains as the Empire tightens its grip on the galaxy. Rebel movements rise in defiance, while Mandalorian and Separatist remnants add to the chaos, each thread building toward the Galactic Civil War.
  • Secrets of the Ancients
    Piece together artifacts of legendary civilizations like the Celestials and Rakata to uncover their advanced technologies and rebuild awe-inspiring megastructures from a bygone era.




  • Institutions Ascension Perk
    Gain access to unique buildings like the COMPNOR Arcology for the Galactic Empire or the Mandalorian Recruitment Center for the Mandalorians.
    Exploit strategic options like hiring Confederate veterans and their fleets as the Corporate Sector Authority or funding uprisings in the underworld as the Hutt Council.
    And many more!
  • Tales from the Cantina
    Explore rumors to uncover brand new dig sites and event chains. Track down lost holocrons, forgotten superweapons, and other powerful relics as well as a myriad of new galactic specimens.
  • Mandalorian Clans
    A mechanic inspired by the Klingon Great House Mechanic from Star Trek: New Civilizations. Mandalorian players can foster relationships between important clans of the Galactic Civil War era such as Kryze, Saxon, and Wren.



  • Apocalypse: the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station (the Death Star) will be available for the Galactic Empire.
  • Megacorp: Certain countries replaced with corporate variants. Additionally, Rebel-aligned factions will be able to build unique holdings.
  • Nemesis: The Empire will have better use of their crisis mechanics and both the Hutts and Mandalorians will gain access to unique espionage operations.
  • Various other minor additions with non-species DLCs.
  • No DLC is required for the mod to work.

shrimpAI for Total Conversions is supported. Load order does not matter as per the mod description.
Other mods are usually not compatible with this or any total conversion mod.


New Dawn was based on the earlier Star Wars: Fallen Republic mod.

I cleared all mod references in my documents, compelted removed and emptied, the entire mod from the steam workshop, and unsubbed and resubbed. The game will not pick up this mod../ I don't get it it use to work all the time, Other overhauls work instantly. Any idea what could be wrong here?

@Bosmeri: Thanks for considering it. I'd like to extend the same argument for the Commerce Guild as well, though it doesn't doesn't directly border the Empire

Furthermore, I think several Resolutions could be changed to suit the atmosphere of a galaxy being imposed a New Order (as well as shortening the times between Senate Sessions and their duration)

Same here FoxySTAR - I got all but 1 DLC and the mod says you don't need them anyway. I have no UI mods nothing just this mod as stand alone and nothing. I can do StarTrek mod fine but that one is bugged out if the Xindi gets to Earth the game crashes lol. I want SW this playthrough

@Bosmeri I posted last night regarding the mod not loading to the game. From another issue, i went into the documents folder and deleted all the still present mods that i had unsubbed from over the past few days to clean up my launcher. once i did this and reloaded the mod, it now loads the mod to the game

Haveing the same issues as others its seems, i have the most recent version and all dlc's no other mod is active but this one, ive played the past one so i know the load process,
but this one just loads it up into vanilla stellaris instead, its super confusing.

can't get the game to load with the mod man. I can do other mods np, just yours won't load. Reinstalled it several times
