Simple Blinking Animation

Description
This mod adds a simple blinking animation to humanlike pawns in vanilla-looking style. Does not depend on [NL] Facial Animation! Low performance impact, and several people have commented that it "makes pawns feel more alive!"

Features
  • Eyes close and open in a randomized idle loop (~4 seconds, slower than the preview image)
  • Eyes close when asleep
  • Option in Mod Settings for corpses to have eyes open or closed (default is closed)
  • Works with all vanilla humanalike pawns and can work with all modded humanlike pawns (no blink animation on unsupported pawns, easily extensible)
  • Compatible with Biotech eye colors, EyeGenes2 textures, Glowing Eye Genes

Includes support for the core game, Biotech, and Anomaly. (Sorry for the low res preview gifs. Gif files have to be under 2mb to add to the workshop page. Looks much better in-game!)

Currently uses base-game resolutions (128x128). Working next on some higher-def textures for those who want it, although I do have real-life projects happening now, so it may be a while. Feel free to make some and I'll link them if you do!


Known Issues:
  • Portraits don't blink. Portrait eyes should close when sleeping in bed spots, though.
  • Statues have eyelids closed, figuring this one out
  • Metalblood shader not shading lids
  • Can look weird with xenotypes with head attachments. Working on adding a per-xenotype toggle! With it, I'd also like to add a default lid that you can choose to use for a xenotype, since most heads will probably look at least okay with it.

Easily Extensible
To support new head types, simply add east and south eyelid textures at this file location with this naming scheme (be sure to use the HeadTypeDef):
Textures/Things/Pawn/Humanlike/Eyelids/HeadTypeDef_Closed_south.png Textures/Things/Pawn/Humanlike/Eyelids/HeadTypeDef_Closed_east.png
See the textures in the mod for examples! For the best look, be sure there are no low opacity pixels, and be sure to fully cover the eye on the head texture.

And for even better look, make sure your lids match up texture-wise with the head! As an example, the Gaunt lids in this mod include the shaded eye socket.

Some rockstar modders have added support for blinking! If more mods add compatibility, I'll list them here.

Not sure how I should send a bug report, but just so you have tabs on it, I am fairly certain the skin shader that the Metalblood serum uses is not supported. Looking forward to future updates! :)

Nice mod but i dont use it since its not upscaled and looks really weird with other upscaled retexture mods

@Jeeyoff, as far as I know, genie heads don't have blinking support yet. It's by head type so there won't be weird mismatches

I have added support for ALL of my xenotypes that have custom heads. <3 That's the Corvyia, Auronya, Fenrisulfr, Shisune, and the Au Ra from the FFXIV races :)

@Copy, you should be able to. You’ll probably get errors that first load just to say the Eyelid node is gone, but that’s all the code does, so should cause no problems. Haven’t tested it though.
