Somewhat Traits [B42 Compatible]

Description
Adds 16 positive, 16(17) negative and expands 17 vanilla traits
(and optional "bonus to skill" traits module)

This is Multiplayer focused mods. Though it should work fine overall in Single Player
It targets hardcore setting: high pop, tough zombies, sprinters, pinpoint. Please report bugs in discussion thread which corresponds to the version used

About the traits which affect character stats
  • The positive traits have very subtle effects, stacking is helpful but won't be game changing
  • The negative traits on the other hand hit pretty hard as soon as player meets the conditions and some go away as soon as those are no longer met
  • While positive traits won't counter the effects of negative traits while those are active, they will help with the aftereffects and the amount of character maintenance in general

Info
  • All traits have special mechanics, some vanilla traits can be lost/gained (read tooltips/descriptions)
  • The positive traits effect on endurance/fatigue/stress/boredom/unhappiness etc is very minor
  • Changes how drunkenness works: without any traits characters can consume light alcohol drinks without getting sleepy (about two bottles of beer in a row), being very drunk (full bottle of whiskey/bourbon) adds a small chance to trip when running which grows based on Endurance moodle level
  • In b41 it ties panic reduction over time to character time survived (as in b42) instead of world age (also decouples it from the framerate), Adrenaline Junkie always panics as on day one
  • Removes the restriction of First Aid actions on other players from "Fear of Blood"
  • "Sunday Driver" can be lost in a very spicy situation, "Speed Demon" can be gained in a high speed crash
  • Adds multiple traits like "Dextrous" which make corresponding timed actions twice faster. "Handy" also receives this feature towards building and barricading actions
  • The 17th negative trait will appear when any of CDC Rapid Response mods by Phil J Herman are present
  • Frog Companion trait can be expanded with Somewhat Companions mod
  • Here you can read all Traits Descriptions and which vanilla traits were expanded

Notes
  • Does not add new professions or change the existing ones (long term compatibility reasons)
  • Does not add traits which affect interactions/communication between players or the experience gain (apart from "bonus to skill" traits module)
  • Big thanks to @clementine for creating pixel art for traits
  • A group of experienced players was helping with the ideas for the traits
  • Made with Sunday Drivers[discord.gg] server gameplay loop in mind: leaderboard, sprinters, loot respawn, mods such as Skill Recovery Journal, More Difficult Zombies, CDC Rapid Response Community, More Brews, More Smokes, etc.
  • Compatible with Combat Traits and Paniqeur Trait
  • In theory should be compatible with other traits mods but ymmw
  • Can be added/removed to/from existing saves (traits will be lost if removed of course)
  • The initial release of this mod took about 80 hours to develop

To server owners and modders
  • The mod consists of three modules: SomewhatTraitsCore (mechanics for traits), SomewhatTraits (trait names/descriptions/costs etc), SomewhatTraitsSkills (optional "bonus to skill" traits module)
  • You are welcome to make your own versions of SomewhatTraits and SomewhatTraitsSkills modules if you wish to adjust the traits costs/availability, just make sure to change the id= in mod.info and keep SomewhatTraitsCore as requirement

Check my other mods, maybe you'd like some of them
If you would like to thank me then a steam gift card is the best way to do so

Modpacking or reuploading is not allowed as long as the original version is present.

@John Dulanius just checked, I can see why, I made it against new versions. Will see if i can make it also support the old one. Thanks for letting me know!

The two mods are CDC Rapid Response by Phil J Herman and CDC Rapid Response Settings - Rare by zervald

(Not CDC 2)

@John Dulanius can you please post which exactly CDC mod was used in B41 bug reports discussion and if possible what kind of cure, I will look into it!
Acrophobic as per description, being at ground floor have no impact on character, once character goes up the floors the stress starts to raise, amount per mod tick is based on current floor, being outside doubles the amount. Also glad to hear you are having fun! :spiffo:

Thanks for the quick response, my friends and I enjoy using this mod

Could you explain the mechanics behind acrophobic? Also, my friend took the anti-vaxxer trait but was still able to use a cure from B41 CDC mod without any issue.

@John Dulanius weight loss/gain rate is unaffected, you still have to sustain required calories depending on your goal, the trait just makes it easier by adjusting calorie burn rate near unhealthy weight.

Constantly losing weight with adaptive metabolism even when overeating and staying stuffed frequently? It was great at first but now I've dropped down to 70 and I'm underweight

@SlySanity thank you! There is dedicated discussion for bugs please post there. But before you do: B42 does not have multiplayer support yet and this mod is written based on official releases of the game and its current features. What you experience is likely due to unofficial multiplayer.

Hello! Great mod! However I'm running into an issue with bandaging. About 80 mods all of them working. I am also on 42.12.1 mp server. No issues when the mod isnt there; also tried only using core with the same results. Thanks for your effort!

Here is the error if it helps

@somewhatfrog: Will do — if I find anything I’ll post it in the B41 bugs. Thanks for the help, friend. I’m trying to replicate it myself but can’t, though others confirmed it happens to them, so there must be another cause. Players with this issue said removing either Weak Stomach or Ravenous prevents the “bug.” I’ll share more info and post in the discussion for easier follow-up once I know more.
