Wormwood Skill Tree Overhaul - Moon Sprout

Description
Overview
"Moon Sprout" is a comprehensive skill overhaul mod for Wormwood in DST. It has enhanced the personal quality of life, single-player combat efficiency and team assistance capabilities of Wormwood. By freely combining multiple skill lines, you can create the most suitable gameplay route for yourself.

Core Foundation - Moon Sprout
The initial skill includes:

Lunar affinity: Gain dynamic bonuses based on moon phases, with +10% Lunar affinity during full moon.

Lune Tree Blossom System:
  • Craftable Lune Blossom serves as the foundation for exclusive items and advanced skills.
  • Examine blossoms anytime to check current BP. During bloom state, freshness mirrors BP.
  • Consuming blossoms activates "Lunar Charge", enabling advanced skill usage at BP cost.
  • Infused Lune Tree Blossoms crafted with Pure Brilliance trigger "Pure Lunar Charge" for higher-tier abilities.
Built-in Bloom Point display wheel in this mod, no need to install additional display mods.(Code from Value Monster: Wormwood. Appreciation for his sharing!)

BP becomes the key resource for advanced skills, making bloom maintenance essential.

Farming Skill
Seed Sleuth, Quick Picker, Extra Farm Range: Modified to be built-in skills for Wormwood and does not require extra skill points.

Super Growth Formula: Nerfed effectiveness: Each use replenishes only half the bloom value of the previous use. Resets at dawn. (optional in config)

Plant Friend Protector:
  • Digging up planted seeds or growing crops returns their corresponding seeds.
  • Digging up withered saplings, grass tufts and other plants won't destroy them.
  • Plant digging incurs 5 sanity penalty (can disable penalty in config).

Root Catalytic Barrel:
  • 25-slot food storage container with upgradeable preservation capabilities.
  • Enables directed seed mutation using Lune Tree Blossoms as energy source. Arrange seeds and blossoms in specific patterns to convert excess seeds into desired varieties.

Q: I can't figure out the patterns! These puzzles are too hard...
A: Try filling the barrel with the same vegetable in every slot! It'll show you how it's done!

More farming skills will blossom in future updates!

Pets Path
Plant crafting no longer requires skill points. Instead, an expanded companion summoning system emerges:

New Mechanics:
  • All companions now have 10% Lunar affinity.
  • Pocket companions: Store small creatures in inventory - no more leaving slow pets behind.
  • Feed companions: Vegetarian food extends lifespan and heals them; Infused Blossoms grant planar affinity.
  • "Beep-Boop Dictionary":A beginner's guide to Moon Island language. Learn to command your pets—tell them when to attack and when to back off.
  • "Lunar Descendant's Tome":Can be used to cast advanced skills for some companions.

New Abilities & Companions:
  • Carrat: Can perform to promote crop growth.
  • Saladmander: Grows to maturity in two days and learns to spit fire.
  • Grass Gator: 9-slot mobile storage.
  • Piko: Collect items.
  • Venus Flytrap: Its continuous eating can increase damage and HP.
  • Elder Mandrake: Companions' quartermaster.

Mushroom Path
Mushroom Culturist: Merged mushroom growth/yield skills reduce specialization points.

Mushroom Buffs:
Consuming colored mushrooms grants temporary buffs (non-stackable). Each use has a chance to unlock corresponding hat blueprints.
  • Red: +10% damage.
  • Blue: +15% damage reduction.
  • Green: +20% Lunar affinity.
  • Shroomcake: Half-strength versions of all buffs.
  • Stuffed Night Cap: One consumption causes all creatures to be forced to sleep with you. After waking up, their attack power drops significantly for a period of time. Meanwhile, Wormwood enters a drowsy state and gains a powerful hypnotic aura.

Mushroom Bomb: Throwable bombs dealing AoE damage. When fully spoiled, becomes Toxic Spore Bomb applying poison.

Mushroom Hats:
  • Damage Absorption: 50% damage reduction
  • Tri-Hats: Provide corresponding buffs. When bloom-activated, consume BP for team aura.
  • Moon Cap: Attacks stack random buffs. Infused state doubles effectiveness.

Bramble Path
Bee Kind:
  • Gaining combat assistance from nearby bees.
  • Attacking any bee will break the friendship. Eating honey restores friendship with bees.
  • Release "Honey Tactics" through Lune Blossom: 100 BP for attack slow effects, 60s duration.

Poison Birch:
  • When planting acorns, in 60s, Wormwood has chance to summon Birchnut Roots when attacking, and automatically spawns Birchnut Drakes when attacked.
  • Once per day, when fighting near the birchnut tree, there is a chance to receive assistance from the poisonous birchnut tree.
  • Release "Birchwood Alliance" through Lune Blossom: 300 BP for Birchnut Roots and Drakes in combat, plus Poison Birchnut summon.

Ivy Staff:
  • Basic: Roots enemies in place.
  • Throw: Creates bramble walls to trap foes.
  • Lunar Charge throw: Enhances control based on Bramble skills.
  • Pure Lunar Charge throw: Summons Brightshade for combat support.

Blooming Path
While blooming, healing foods now replenish BP(Blooming Point). Finally, Pierogi becomes a viable food choice!
Overheat Protection has modified to be built-in skills for Wormwood.

Photosynthesis:
  • Gains energy from light to gradually restore health.
  • When health is full, gradually restores Blooming Points.
  • Doubles photosynthesis efficiency when no headgear is worn.
  • Can also photosynthesize at dusk, but at 50% efficiency.

Osmotic Regulation:
  • Wormwood can absorb moisture from its surface to further enhance photosynthesis efficiency.

Energy Allocation:
Energy gained from photosynthesis can be allocated based on the following priority:
  • If BP is below 1800, all energy is used to restore BP.
  • If BP is between 1800 and 3600, at least half of the energy is allocated to restoring BP.
  • Powers various perishable items in the inventory, restoring their freshness per second.
  • Sustains summoned followers, extending their lifespan and Planar alignment.
  • Remaining allocatable energy is split between producing Butter and further restoring BP.

Lunar Tree Therapy:
  • Two healing skills costing 300/1200 BP for you and allies.
  • The Mothling you adopted has an energy supply system similar to yours. Obtains lunar energy under the moonlight and heals nearby injured players as well as helps you with energy supply tasks.

Moonlight Descent:
  • Opal Staff auroras grant +10% Lunar affinity to nearby allies.
  • During bloom: In Lunar Charge, 300 BP creates freezing aurora (120s).
  • With Infused Blossom: In Pure Lunar Charge, 1800 BP summons Enlightenment Field, calling Gestalts and Grazers to purge shadow threats (240s).

As a first-time modder with moderate playtime, I don't claim deep expertise in DST's mechanics. All suggestions and ideas are welcome!

The mod includes extensive configuration options to tailor Wormwood to your preferences. Please report any bugs with crash logs - I'll prioritize fixes. Thank you for your support!

@DephtCore No problem. I will make a support for them in next update.

Do you think its possible to make Energy Allocations Mushroom refreshing possible, while they are in the Fluffy Mushroom Bag? Because atm they would just rot in there for me so I have to hold them out of it for them to refresh again

@RodLow Great Thank you for your kind words! I'm also creating a mod for the first time. A big part of my learning process was reading through other mods' code, which has been crucial in shaping my mod. Best of luck with your programming studies!

@DephtCore Thank you for reminding me of this issue! Next time, I will clearly state in the skill description of Energy Allocation that this is an automatic gain effect and no manual operation is required.

@Lemonade
Thanks for your answer!
I think the most confusion part for me was the wording for Energy Allocation since it sounded like it was something I would have to do manually haha

Thanks again for your respond and keep up the good work :3

For food stuffs, it is true that fertilizer and water are nutritents for plants. Since they have given other effects in keeping blooming to Wormwood and vegetables and fruits are enough to eat for him, I may not make additional effect for them : )

Overall, thanks a lot for your appreciation! Please tell me if you have further confusions XD

@DephtCore Thank you so much! There are too much content in this mod to describe in detail in either mod introduction or skill description. I would do a more complete profile of this mod somewhere else later.

Energy Allocation and Osmotic Regulation are passive buff and happen automatically.

Specificly, Energy Allocation allows you to restore some items' freshness, restore pets living duration and produce butter as long as your Bloom Point is more than 1800.

Osmotic Regulation boost the efficiency of photosynthesis. Higher moisture provides higher boost effect. And as a result of it, The moisture of Wormwood will decrease naturally when photosynthesis is taking effect.

Firmly grip is just removed in the newest update which allows player to grip tools whem moisture is pretty high. Wormwood can always keep a low level of moisture because of the photosynthesis so that it is no need to add this skill for him.

I really like the mod, I just dont understand some things, like the Energy Allocation to be honest (like if its something I have to do myself or happening automatically ) Osmotic Regulation (like the firmly grip tools? Is this just a passive buff towards photosynthesis?) Or the "Butter"making xD Or like to get Pure Brilliance but thats more a skill issue bcs I just started playing again after a few years XD

The only thing I would wonder, if its possible to give Wormwood the ability to gain hunger via Fertilizer items, since well he literally is a plant and fertilizer is "food" for plants And if moisture / being wet being something that helps Wormwood, the ability to use a watering can to self-water haha xD

But that said I really like this and as wormwood was always my main character to play I enjoy him even more^^ Even so I struggle with bloom-upkeep xD
