Enhancement Chamber is a mod that reworks many special rooms to make them more relevant to enhance their relevance to the overall gameplay experience. It is the evolution of the old Revamped Special Rooms, focusing more on gameplay changes in rooms rather than simply expanding rooms. New changes will continue to be added over time. The main changes are listed below:

Sacrifice

  • Updated sacrifice door sprite.
  • Changed item pool from Treasure to Curse.
  • Sacrifice Room requires clearing the entire floor before it can be accessed.
  • Added minimap icon when the sacrifice room is closed.
  • Added Sacrifice Room jingles.
  • The central spike is replaced by either a Devil or Angel altar (50% chance each).
  • Altars always require six hearts to grant a Devil or Angel item, respectively.
  • Altars have 33% chance to give a random pickup when not paying out an item.
  • Altars save the payment amount by reappearing in future floors.
  • Completing an altar removes red heart damage punishment for the rest of the run.
  • Altars priorize red heart damage and are unaffected by invincibility frames.
  • Blowing up an altar can spawn a random trinket (unfinished) or Fallen Angel (finished).
  • Blood Machines and Confessionals can now be found in Sacrifice Rooms.
  • The Lost and Tainted Lost can use altars for free.

Boss / Miniboss / Double Trouble

  • Reworked several boss and miniboss rooms.
  • PIcking up items in random places now triggers the Boss Pedestal sound instead of the Angel one.
  • Double trouble rooms were redesigned from scratch to match their bosses' room designs.
  • Added Double Trouble rooms for Chapter 1 and Alt Path bosses.
  • Added minimap icon for Double Trouble rooms.
  • Double Trouble bosses are always identical and from the same chapter.
  • Double Trouble rooms have a 5% weight compared to bosses and use the Boss Rush theme.
  • Completing Double Trouble rooms grants two items which can only take one.

Boss Rush

  • Added pentagram animation in order to count waves.
  • Added basic chapter 4 bosses to Boss Rush's pool.
  • Added Afterbirth+ and Repentance bosses to Boss Rush's pool.
  • Removed angel minibosses from Boss Rush's pool.
  • Room layouts always contain four items without being blocked by obstacles.
  • Reduced waves from 15 to 10.

Curse

  • Added a new bite animation to Curse Doors.
  • Added and reworked many Curse Room layouts.
  • Curse Doors prioritize red heart damage.
  • Flying no longer provides immunity when entering.
  • Room layouts may include button events to make Curse Rooms more dynamic.

Challenge / Ambush

  • Ambush enemies can spawn as champion. (Normal: 16.67% | Hard: 33%)
  • Challenge Rooms are now available on the first floor.
  • First floor challenges have less content than later ones.
  • Changed Challenge Room item pool from Treasure to Golden Chest.
  • Challenge Rooms can include obstacles.

Dice
  • Added animation and sounds to Dice Rooms.
  • Added minimap icon when Dice Room is triggered.
  • Dice Rooms can now be used to get rid of curses.
  • Reworked Dice Rooms to always have pickups in order to to make 2-pip effect useful.
  • 5-pip effect is only triggered by trying to go to the next floor.

Shop
  • Shops have 50% chance to sell trinkets instead of sacks.
  • Added minimap icon to shop variants.
  • Shop variants are updated to golden and junk shops, respectively.
  • Golden Shops sell items from treasure pool and have occasionally golden poops.
  • Junk Shops sell items from boss pool and only trinkets as pickups.

Secret / Super Secret / Ultra Secret Rooms

  • Reworked Secret and Super Secret Rooms to be generally more useful.
  • Items are slightly more common in Secret Rooms.
  • Super Secret Rooms can have different wall layouts with common or rare entities.
  • The Super Secret Room with the error layout contains a glitched item instead of random junk.

Devil / Angel Rooms

  • Always contain at least two available items.
  • Items are no longer blocked by obstacles.
  • Removed random enemies from these rooms.

Black Markets

  • Changed item pool from Shop to Secret Room.
  • Moved the trapdoor layout to the right instead of the left.
  • Reworked Black Market Rooms to be generally more useful.

Library

  • 20% extra chance to generate in a floor by holding one book. (33% two book)
  • Can only take one item instead of all.
  • Always contains at least two items.
  • More likely to contain cards and wooden chests.

Grave
  • Added gravestones that can be exploded to obtain pickups.
  • Added minimap icon.
  • Triggers the Death music by default.
  • Opening the grave spawns an old chest instead of random one.

Error Rooms

  • Added error jingles.
  • Always contain a glitched item.
  • Rooms are less zany.

Treasure Rooms

  • Always have an item to collect.
  • Items are no longer blocked by obstacles.
  • Reworked some rooms to be less annoying or RNG-dependent.

Observations
  • Mod Config Menu can be used to toggle special room modules.
  • Treasure and Secret Rooms from Alt Path haven't been changed yet.
  • Glitched items only appear if you have unlocked TMTRAINER.

I still encounter rooms with pits on the middle preventing access to the boss rush, for example "(FF) 5 Sunil_B - So that's where the beans were hiding" in Necropolis

I removed the boss rush waves nodes and that fixed it

Seems the fix for passive skill trees' boss rush waves nodes, adds more waves instead of removing? After the pentagram is entirely colored I still fight a couple more waves

Thank you for the mod — super excited for it! As for that error, it's pretty rare, and since I have tons of other mods installed, conflicts are possible. So don't sweat it. Sorry I couldn't give detailed repro steps; the specifics faded from memory when I tried to recall them.

@撒批都来忏悔 EC significantly reduces the gap between good and bad loot RNG in special rooms, making rewards more consistent overall. Without difficulty-increasing mods, this can lower the challenge—especially when exploring multiple special rooms or hitting rare ones. I'm currently reworking loot across many layouts, with changes like nerfing altar payment amounts and adjusting double trouble rewards, so the next update may be related to what you're looking for.

Also, I wasn’t able to replicate the getRoom error related to special shop icons from Golden/Junk shops, but as a workaround, it’s possible to disable those custom icons when that happen.

I feel the modified rooms in this mod offer excessively higher rewards than the base game, especially the sacrifice room. This makes obtaining powerful items too easy, resulting in dramatically reduced difficulty. The rewards from these altered rooms may need to be scaled down.

Fixed altars spawning in Mastema's sacrifice rooms in the last update.

The last update added a new tab to toggle red heart mechanic and ambush champions. I forgot to change EID check, so it was trying to find the last config data. It's fixed now.
