Artifacts of the Darkest Estate (100+ Trinkets)

Description
What is this mod?

Artifacts of the Darkest Estate is a trinket mod, featuring over 100 trinkets from Darkest Dungeon 1. The mod only includes generic trinkets from the base game. It does not include Hero Trinkets or DLC trinkets (Crimson Court/Color of Madness/Butcher's Circus).

While this mod uses the names and images of the Darkest Dungeon 1 trinkets, this mod is NOT a 1-to-1 port of trinkets. Many trinkets have had their effects changed in one way or the other. In a few cases, the trinkets have been completely overhauled, to the point they do not resemble their DD1 counterpart at all.

Kingdoms Compatibility

Mod is compatible with Kingdoms (official mod support)!

Status of the Mod

The mod is content finished, and no major updates are planned

How to get the trinkets:

Most of the trinkets are all included in the game's basic trinket drop tables. You should find them naturally, while playing the game. There is only 1 exception:

Ancestral Trinkets: These can only be obtained by fulfilling a certain set of requirements. These requirements aren't hidden, nor are they convoluted (hopefully), so you should stumble upon them naturally. However, just in case, below you will find a step-by-step guide

Step 1: Visit the Hoarder. You will find a unique item named "???" that cannot be purchased. If you're playing in the Kingdoms game mode, this will not appear until Escalation 2.
Step 2: Examining the item will reveal that you need to bring multiple trophies to the hoarder before he is willing to allow you to buy it.
Step 3a: In the Confessions game mode: Kill at least 2 Lair Bosses and keep their trophies.
Step 3b: In the Kingdoms game mode: Kill at least 3 Lair Bosses and keep their trophies.
Step 4: While having at least 2 (or 3) trophies in your stagecoach, visit the Hoarder. The "???" will have changed into a more affordable "Ancestral Relic" worth 65 Baubles.
Step 5: Bring the "Ancestral Relic" to the next Inn. Your heroes will unveil the trinket, and you will receive a random Ancestral Trinket
Note: You do not need to do Step 1 or 2. You can start from Step 3.

Mod Configuration

The mod features Mod Configuration. You will find it as a stackable Inn Item in the Valley Inn (Confessions game mode), or in any Inn (Kingdoms game mode). The in-game description should tell you how it works, but below you will find a more detailed explanation as to how it works. Also, just to make it clear: Using these will unbalance the game, and should only be used if you really just want to play with the mod's content ASAP.

Increased Drop Rates

While in the Stagecoach Inventory, the trinket drop tables will be changed. How they are changed depends on how many stacks of this item you picked up.

1 Instance : Trinkets from this mod are 5x more likely to drop than other trinkets. The drop rates of trinkets are unchanged.

2 Instances : Trinkets from this mod are 10x more likely to drop than other trinkets. Additionally, the trinkets will be included in additional loot tables, and you will receive double the trinkets

3 Instances : Trinkets from this mod are 100x more likely to drop than other trinkets. Additionally, the trinkets will be included in additional loot tables, and you will receive triple the trinkets

Keywords

This mod adds a couple of new keywords. These new keywords are used to simplify tooltips, but obviously it may be difficult to understand what they mean. Below there is an explanation for each new keyword this mod has:

Combatant: A Combatant is any character engaged in combat, be they friend or foe.
Range: Range is the attack distance between two targets. The formula for determining Range is: (Hero's Rank) + (Target's Rank) - 1
Reset Trinket Buffs: Removes any stacking buffs that trinket has.
Negate Trinket Buffs: Cancels any buffs the trinket has. Essentially, the trinket stops working.
When Passing: Activates when the hero passes their turn.
Cursebound: Trinkets with this keyword cannot be unequipped once equipped to a hero. Unless they die.
Invert: Applies Knockback if the effect target is in Rank 1/2; applies Pull if the effect target is in Rank 3/4.

hello! small bug to report: the Heavy Boot's 3 immobilize tokens are resistible. this kinda makes it inconsistent a little useless... i paid good money for leper to keep still... :sob:

i really love this mod... all the new trinkets are a delight, if not a little too strong. will you allow these trinkets to have a sell price now that the hoarder can buy them from you? also your ancestor trinkets should definitely tagged as ancestral now that this tag actually exists!

Superb mod! Though I do think some of the trinkets are quite overpowered compared to the base game.

Impressive amount of work here, very nice!

@MacGuffin, thanks for telling me that. I'm not sure what happened, but it seems like "on debuff" resist effects are bugged. For now, the trinkets have their effect removed while I try to fix that.

As for Prophet's Eye, the effect applies only when attacking the prophesied rank. The prophesied rank changes each round, and you can check which Rank it is by hovering over the buff tooltips (left side of the hero's HP bar)

It's me again, I come to report a problem: when using the Hex charm (that increases debuff res), my game consistently crashes after my hero is supposed to receive a debuff. Taking it off solves the crashes, and i do not have any mod that modifies the hero's stats.

Hey man, love the mod! Just a quick question, how does the Prophet's eye work? I don't understand if the description means you get the bonuses if you target the rank 1, if you target the prophesied rank, or if your hero is in the prophesied rank?

@CrazedSlayer, Maybe, but not now. Once I am done working on trinket changes with this mod, I'll see about making a separate OP version.
CrazedSlayer 16 Apr @ 11:56pm
Can you do an OP version of this with no negatives?
Seignar  [author] 15 Apr @ 4:49am
@PKPenguin, Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, you're right about the cult trinkets. Even I find it difficult to justify using them. The stress minimum won't change (good shambler and moribund abomination synergy), so I'll see about buffing the effects.
