Description
This mod replaces the Cimmeria faction with an Amazon faction led by Penthesilea. The roster of the Amazon faction consists of 35 units from Total War Troy. In addition, the faction has its own culture and religion/influence. Many of the units can be recruited by other factions if they build the corresponding native recruitment buildings.

Installation instructions
This mod requires the Expanded Family Trees mod to work, which adds more than 110 characters to 23 different factions. Load this mod on top of the Expanded Family Trees one.

Compatibility
Not compatible with Radious. The mod edits startpos tables, so it is not compatible with other mods that edit the startpos like Radious. The mod also edits phar_local_deities.lua, phar_eminence.lua and the scripts included in the Expanded Family Trees mod. Did I mention that it is not compatible with Radious?

The native recruitment is limited to Thermodon, the Amazon's starting province

Is the native recruitment tied to the realm of Isuwa if you want to recruit their units as another faction? Or does it have to be through one of the two starting regions for the amazons?

Thanks for the explanations! That makes sense, and choosing Mesopotanians also means that you didn't need to change the base culture as well. Admittedly I'd probably have gone with the Aegeans as the base culture, but that makes sense. Technical reasons for no audio also makes sense - I'm guessing that the 'easy' way to do it would be to essentially create unique voice sets for every single Amazon unit, which would quickly become cumbersome.

Thank you for your comment!
1) The tech tree is determined by a faction's culture. For the mod, I created a custom subculture for Amazons, but didn't change their base game culture (Cimmerians are Mesopotanians in the vanilla game). I initially planned to create a custom Amazon culture, but I decided againt it due to the unexpected bugs this could introduce. It was a matter of effort vs reward, those techs are the only out of place thing that I can think of.
2) Importing audio files to TW games is a very complicated process. As of now, there is no simple way to replace a faction's audio effects. You need to manually identify the base game audio that you want to update. Moreover, this completely replaces the audio file, so let's say we replace the Mesopotamian voice lines with Amazon ones; then all Mesopotamian units would use the Amazon audio. Unfortunately, using Tausret's voice lines is the least intrusive option.
3) I have already updated the mod to fix the bug :steamhappy:

Alright, this is cool and it's integrated quite well. A few questions, if you are willing to oblige:
1) I noticed that their tech tree seems to be the Mesopotanian one, such as getting extra food at the Tigris and Euphrates, while being situation in Hittie lands far from that. Was that intended, or a side effect of how you set them up?
2) All their units seem to be using Tausret's voice lines, referencing Egypt and Hathor. Was this just a placeholder, or did you not intend to extract all the Amazon voicelines and transfer them along with the unit models?
3) In custom battles, the Amazon General (solely Penthesilia) seems to not have a name or description. Might just be a minor bug.

Either way, great work porting this over, Amulet of Kings!

I'm not actively developing mods, but if you are interested in doing it yourself, send me a friend request and I'll tell you how to do it.

Great mod, thank you! A little questions: Is there any chance for a double unit size submod for DoA?

Amazon units use animations from Troy, I guess that the author of the other mod has only considered the animations used by Pharaoh units.

i run this mod with https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3302399280 but for some reason they only do sync kills on 2 handed infantry is there a compatibility issue or is it something else?
Timujin 19 Jul @ 10:04am
I would very much appreciate that, I have modded a decent amount myself, but never touched the starpos, everyone has made it sound very intimidating and time consuming comparatively. I'll start a discussion here so as to keep our dialogue out of this mods comment section if that's alright.
