Description
The Mod
The mod mostly makes use of RimWorlds own ritual mechanics. No heavy code behind it, making it very lightweight and FPS-friendly.

This is an add-on mod for my Research Data mod, adding theory researching to try and make researching a bit more player-interactive.

Once a day (20 hours) you can do Theory Research (Simple) or (Advanced) at either the simple or high-tech research bench.
Theory research uses the game's ritual mechanics and lets your research pawn produce theory ideas on paper or as data, how many you get depends on the research outcome.
Theory papers/data can then be combined with samples at the research sample bench to create the final research papers or data that are used when researching new tech.

This can make researching a bit harder and take longer, as you have to remember to do theory research.
Also if the theory research fails you gain NO theory papers/data and can end up not being able to do research until the next day as you leaking theories.
However, if you do outstanding or brilliant theory research, you will gain multiple theory papers/data that can be stored.
It's also possible to buy theories from some caravans/traders, it can be rare to find, but a good idea to buy if your theory research fails.

Balance thoughts
I have only tested the mod myself, so like to hear your thoughts on the balance. I tried to hit a vanilla-like balance requiring a bit more player interaction.

Actually, disregard ALL of my comments; I am even MORE confused than before. I tried running just this mod and Alpha Memes together with a Corporate Sadist ideoligion, and it worked fine. I guess you WON'T be getting a log tomorre. =(

Trust me, I am just as confused as you are. There's no reason that liking organ harvesting, death, and corpses should break theory research. When I get the log, I'll show it to Alpha Memes' developers as well.

I just tested everything else, and from what I've found, it's apparently one of the three precepts exclusive to Sadist. Those three Precepts are "Organ Use: Torturous;" "Death: Desired;" and "Corpses: Sublime." I'll provide a log with Theory Research ritual under the Sadist Meme tomorrow.

With a Corporate Supremacist Ideoligion with every Precept matching my old one except for those affected by Sadist, I got the Theory Research ritual to work. Expect a log soon.

Okay, I had an idea and I took it. I tested the Theory Research ritual on a Classic-Like preset ideoligion. It worked perfectly fine. The conflict must be not between mods but between the Theory Research mod and my custom Corporate Sadist Ideoligion. I'll keep testing this way.

On second thought, I'm just going with my usual mod-incompatibility search strategy. I just looked at my Ideoligion and was like, "$@!! That!" I also have a couple of suspects in my modpack. The first to be cleared was Minify Everything, which got a whole series of replacements specifically because it's been known to break modded buildings (especially vehicles). I'm testing Complex Jobs in this round of mods.

I'm having a similar issue to @Guineatown20806. The ritual intro card for the Theory Research window is almost completely blank, and when I forcibly commence the ritual with the Enter key, the time stays locked at "1 hour left," leaving my researcher stuck in an endless ritual. I shall test the precepts of my modpack immediately; I will get back to you with my findings (and hopefully a log).
