Just did a new update.
If you are still getting the ".dds" errors in the log, you may need to unsubscribe from the mod, make sure manually that all the files from the mod in the Steam workshop content folder are gone, and then resubscribe to the mod again to get the new files.
And do the same for the add-on mod if you are using it.

Actually, disregard ALL of my comments; I am even MORE confused than before. I tried running just this mod and Alpha Memes together with a Corporate Sadist ideoligion, and it worked fine. I guess you WON'T be getting a log tomorre. =(

Trust me, I am just as confused as you are. There's no reason that liking organ harvesting, death, and corpses should break theory research. When I get the log, I'll show it to Alpha Memes' developers as well.

I just tested everything else, and from what I've found, it's apparently one of the three precepts exclusive to Sadist. Those three Precepts are "Organ Use: Torturous;" "Death: Desired;" and "Corpses: Sublime." I'll provide a log with Theory Research ritual under the Sadist Meme tomorrow.

With a Corporate Supremacist Ideoligion with every Precept matching my old one except for those affected by Sadist, I got the Theory Research ritual to work. Expect a log soon.

Okay, I had an idea and I took it. I tested the Theory Research ritual on a Classic-Like preset ideoligion. It worked perfectly fine. The conflict must be not between mods but between the Theory Research mod and my custom Corporate Sadist Ideoligion. I'll keep testing this way.

On second thought, I'm just going with my usual mod-incompatibility search strategy. I just looked at my Ideoligion and was like, "$@!! That!" I also have a couple of suspects in my modpack. The first to be cleared was Minify Everything, which got a whole series of replacements specifically because it's been known to break modded buildings (especially vehicles). I'm testing Complex Jobs in this round of mods.

I'm having a similar issue to @Guineatown20806. The ritual intro card for the Theory Research window is almost completely blank, and when I forcibly commence the ritual with the Enter key, the time stays locked at "1 hour left," leaving my researcher stuck in an endless ritual. I shall test the precepts of my modpack immediately; I will get back to you with my findings (and hopefully a log).

Issue is fixed now. I changed some percepts of my ideoligion regenerating it in the process and now the Theory window appears as it should. I am guessing this is because I added the mod midgame.

You don't need the Log publisher its just often the other don't work and this do.

But have still not found a problem so to be fair i don't think its the mod it self, but maybe a conflict with another mod you have. Or old files not being updated.

@Guineatown20806 Just tested again, and cannot replicate the error.

1: What version of the game do you have?
2: You have Ideology DLC active?
3: Have you un-sub and re-sub to Custom Ritual Framework?

@Twilight Yah, the mod is not ment to make it all way harder, just add a bit more flaver and a few more active steps so its not just select a research and forget. :)

But there are some one who made a patch mod to make it harder and remove the trade part. search for that :)

Does the mod intentionally add papers\data to trader\town inventories? The loop is interesting and effectively slows research progress a bit (more effort to progress) but it seemed that the consumables where so prevalent to buy and were mostly pretty inexpensive it was too easy to acquire all the consumables via trade.

@Darian Stephens Yah that would also make it so it can spawn outside the room as its not part of it. I have tried posting it to The dev of the Ritual frame work.

The lab has plenty of walking space.
Maybe it's because I've got the research bench embedded in a wall, so only the front section is accessible?

@Darian Stephens its not normal, but see it happen for a few people.
Think it only happens if the research room isvery small. Its a bug from the Ritual framework.

Is it normal that research data and the like are spawning at seemingly random distances from the research bench the ritual was run on?
I've had them spawn in people's bedrooms after a theory, completely disconnected from the laboratory.

I build my research room inside mountain, and it's considered as very spacious with a lot of unused space, still somehow got it spawn outside of my base (which is like, 150~200 tiles away). Anyway, thx for the reply, I will wait for Custom Ritual Framework to fix it on their end : )

@skycrossercat Yah others have had problems with if the research room was too small so there were no place they could spawn. But then they only spawned outside the room.
Not much i can do at the moment, its a problem with the Custom Ritual Framework.

I have asked them for a fix. but nothing yet, so if you can post it there it would be good :)

for some reason my theory data would teleport to random corner of the map after my pawn finish the theory research, is there a requirement for them to drop nearby (like enough space or smth)?

Haha :) A lot of changes, but i think a more hardcore patch would be good.
I think base mods should be more balanced toward vanilla game, but hard pateches or settings is a good ide for people who want it more hard :)

On main mod I already changed the skill needed for sample, removed shematic and archotec analyzer. On this one I also removed the increase research hediff.
I will try with different ritual outcome (terrible, fail, success, outstanding).
2: and 4: is not the way I like it, the sample and research data is already a skill check for me, make it slow to make it slow is not interesting.

The issue I have about make a patch to share, is overpatch your patches (about trade and archotec analyzer), a bit lazy for now. I try on my side, and if I find a good balance I will eventually share it.

@Yoann Make a hardcore patch :)

1: Lower the change of success on the rituals, so its like only 50% or something that you get theory papers.
2: On the main Research Data mod, up how much data they use,
3: Make so if theort fails it lower research speed for a day or something.
4: Make it take longer to craft papers and data nd require more resources.

I did a lazy patch, by editing a local version, so I have nothing easy to share.
I copied the advanced ritual into the basic one: assistant added, and intellectual skill scale to 20. My researcher got ~50% chance instead of ~80%.
But it's still not enough, Idk how to balance it for some struggle without stuck the research for no reason.

Can you release your patched version as an add-on or something? Research in this game is waaaaay too easy and quick. I want technological progress to feel like a long story. As it stands i Have a bunch of mods to make research slow as possible, and even then, even with just one researcher, it still seems too fast.

@Yoann the ide was that in the lower tech it was not a problem unless as you say forget it or your pawns dies etc. If i should lower the chance of getting them i would only lower it a bit.

With the data you need it for both research and analyzer data and if you have more pawns doing research and if you forget it etc. its a bit harder to keep up, but if you manage it well it should not be a problem.

its not ment to be a permanent struggle but something manageble if you do it right and remeber it :)

I'm playing since some days with this mod, only with research papers for now (as I start tribal), and I can't see how I could lack of theory papers (without forgetting to do the ritual).
Unless having pawn doing only research all days AND very bad luck (or several researchers), theory papers seems to be infinite ressource (I sometime skip ritual on purpose).
I even patched the mod to remove the papers from trader/reward, and make the multiple gain rarer.

It's not balanced for my gameplay? (few pawns)
Will it be more interesting for advanced theory research?

@Yann that's actually pretty realistic. (I should know).

Although, it doesn't help me interact with people, only know how to interact in theory... so he is learning the theory of social interactions!

also, could you make it so that the ritual is "optional"? basically, the ritual can boost the research from your other mod. Or be used to make the reaserach papers which help ?"
