Caravan Ghouls

Description
This mod allows Ghouls to carry items when forming a caravan, allowing you to use your friendly ghouls as pack animals.

Don't forget to pack plenty of raw meat.

This is done by removing the code that flags mutants as being unable to ever carry anything, allowing an adult-sized ghoul to carry 35kg of items just like the rest of your colonists.


If combined with a mod that allows ghouls to pick up and use items like Humanlike Ghoul this mod will prevent problems caused by the ghoul not being able to pick up items because of their weight.

New in version 1.1: the mod now has a settings page in Options -> Mod options where you can decrease or increase the carrying capacity of ghouls. Note that if you you have Vanilla Expanded Framework installed you need to enable the VFE fix right below the slider to prevent the weight modification from being applied twice. Or leave it unchecked and max out the slider so your ghouls can carry 30 tonnes of cargo, I'm not going to stop you.


This mod is safe to add/remove mid-save.

No, it makes them useful on caravans; like undead pack animals. My original vision was sending one human leading a line of ghouls loaded with trade goods, after all my alpacas exploded in The Mortar Shell Tantrum Incident of 5057.

@NeinDao this mod only affects carry capacity, it does not change who can/can't lead a caravan. Because Ghouls are in a weird place between colonist and entity they can't form a caravan on their own, they need a proper colonist.

You might be able to do it using the Humanlike Ghouls mod, but it's going to be a lot safer just having one human along to avoid potential issues.

when i only have ghouls and mech in my caravan, i can't reform it to return after a quest is done. i need to fly a normal pawn to the area to be able to reform.
is this how it should work or is it bugged*?

for some reason, using this mod completely removes the option to remove parts in surgery, i no longer get the operation buttons for "remove (part)" when this mod is added to my list

With this mod and Humanlike ghouls you can get them to equip apparel, so you could give them use backpacks from a backpack mod.

Adding pack graphics when they are loaded up would be great, similar to pack animals, but I have a feeling the code for doing so would be a nightmare becuase ghouls are human-like pawns with a lot of things hard-disabled in the code, rather than animal pawns.

Okay, real talk: can we add smokepop pack graphics for ghouls when they carry something? Alike to pack animals?
