Description
I highly recommend using this "mod" as a local mod to ensure the configs from here are not being overwritten. This is the case because of how Steam handles mod priority. i.e mods that release after this one will overwrite my configs

I would further stress the need to save this as a local mod if you are not using all the voice mods from my collection you should delete the folders of the voice packs you're not using.

In summary:
1. Download voice packs from the collection/spreadsheet
2. Download the config files from this page (subscribe to this "mod")
3. Copy this mod's files into a local mod
4. (optional) if you are not using all the voice packs from the collection your voice menu will look cleaner if you delete the configs from those mods. They are separated into folders for each voice pack for ease of use
5. Enable them in AML
6. G R E A T S U C C E S S!

I'm also hoping to muster interest in the creation of non-English voice packs to fill out gaps in what's available https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jbAIWS8-Zzb2K9nWEqBuuIAfnm7V94A2f5FoMchh_fE/edit?usp=sharing

The voice packs used are in the collection above the description of this page and they are linked in the spreadsheet above

***** note ******
The "languages" I've used are a shortcoming of a general lack of non-English voice packs. If you feel so strongly about any perceived issues of inaccuracy, feel free to upload a voice pack so I can amend the issues; or just don't use or download that voice pack.

I'd like to remind everyone that one of the major themes of this game is that people all over the world set aside their differences to unite to defeat the invaders

I'm planning a minor update to the mod, within the week. If you haven't already; please back up your configs in preparation for the update which will remove some configs.

@Xenotaff it will work fine as is. I haven't updated for a while nor do I plan to do so soon. Some voice mods you can download will already be "compatible" with my configs.

However, if you do not use all the voice mods I've included configs for I think you'll find a lot of empty voices in your customisation menu. That is they'll have names but won't play any lines. If this is the case I'm not sure if soldiers will randomly be assigned these empty voices upon generation either. So either use them all (you can include your own too) or create a local mod and delete configs you're not using

If i want to use this mod as it is, without changing anything or deleting anything, do I still need to follow the steps for the local mod or just subscribing will be enough?

Thanks!

It's good to learn about local mods for good modding hygiene. Since Steam updates mods without prompting your changes could be overwritten whenever authors update their mods

What does step 3 "copy this mod's files into a local mod" mean? What is "a local mod" in this context?

Oh very cool

Voice mods that contain a language other than English (LOTE) or English with an accent often are assigned the in-game "Language" of "English" or "None".
The results are, without this "mod", that some soldiers from an English-speaking country will be assigned a LOTE voice and or the new voices you download will not be assigned to any soldiers.

The configs from this mod assign those voices to countries I've considered appropriate instead.

What does this mod actually do? If I have to go download the voices from other mods anyway what's the function of the config?

@Farakill I suppose you would know if you've done it correctly if your local mod "ZZZLocalTweaks" shows up under your list of mods in the AML. If you haven't already, join the XCOM2 modding Discord. Plenty of helpful people there who are willing to help https://discord.gg/9AJZcNFD
