Example of the format used in the guide:
Unit Descriptive Name
Unit's Type Name (if significantly different from descriptive name)
if using the create_unit command, use the unit's Type name.
 



Unit Icon
number of units with small unit size, unit class, unit mount, mass, speed, hitpoints
ammo (if applicable), primary weapon, (unit animation), attack, charge, range (if applicable), weapon traits
secondary weapon, (unit animation), attack, charge, weapon traits
armor, defense skill, shield, total defense
campaign and custom battle cost, upkeep cost
morale, discipline level, training level
special traits/abilities
stamina buffs/debuffs in heat
Special requirements for recruitment
Unit attack buffs/debuffs in certain environments

MORE NOTES
  • Sun God-aligned factions cannot recruit Mercenaries.
  • There are two differing pools for Catholic and Great Spirit factions.
    • Spain must ally certain factions in order to recruit units otherwise unique to said factions within their home regions.
    • Great Spirit factions require their leaders to be on the Warpath in order to recruit Mercenaries.
  • There are no mercenaries to recruit in Cuba.

Thanks. Yeah, editing descr_mercenaries.txt and removing everything from religion onwards does the job.

@Xander77 If you unpack your game files, it is easy enough to mod the mercs in to be recruitable for everyone though

@Xander77 Mercs in the Americas Campaign are only recruitable by the Spanish or the Apache.

Currently writing up a Rebel campaign guide for the Kingdom campaigns. Started with the Teutonic campaign, and only realized the issue with mercs in that campaign after reading your guide.

But... I can't recruit any mercs in the Americas campaign either (as the rebels, just to be clear). Any idea what's up?
