Lovecrafting

Description
Unleash the fearsome skills of the powerful but short-lived wizard Lovecraft! Speak in strange tongues and weep blood! Succumb to soul-blackening rage and forget the faces of everyone you ever loved! It's grotesque!

This mod adds a skill tree to the game consisting primarily of very powerful spells which come at the cost of an HP penalty for each spell you learn as contact with alien forces frays at your physique. However, immersing yourself in eldritch lore and majjyks grants you a valuable Sagacity bonus for every spell you learn. Be forewarned that this mod will make you a VERY squishy, but VERY powerful, wizard.

Further balance changes, other additions, et cetera to come. Also looking for someone who might be interested in making an actual cover image for this mod.

Remember to update, or the XML bears will come and get you.

Lovecraft tree gives you LESS HP. Hmmm. Odd...

mmm free potions, maybe change that up a bit so you can sacrifice a fuckload of mana for a normal potion would be neat.

Hehe, too late. It's fun until anything hits you once.

After a while playing with this mod I've noticed a few problems.
One is that none of the spells scale at all, not sure if that's intentional or not. You can add damage scaling by including (as an example for aetherial damage) aetherealF="0.4" in the spell damage, so you would get 4 more points of aetherial damage for every 10 magic points you have. It works for any damage type, i.e. aetherealF="0.6", righteousF="1.4", acidicF="0.2", etc.
The other problem is that Dark Conduit is pretty overpowered. Getting a health potion 12.5% of the time or a potion of lively regeneration 6.25% of the time when you kill something pretty much means you'll always have enough healing to live even if your max health is low. I'd recommend having it instead trigger a small heal based on your life regeneration like vampirism or something.
Still a fun mod though, thanks for your work.

Nice mod, play this with Radiant Wizard for maximum glass cannon. ^^

Ah yes, those XML yetis are brutal... and hungry...

Love the idea behind this mod, I already have enough trouble staying alive as a wizard but maybe it's time to embrace the squishyness... wait, not sure that came out right; I just mean that squishy eldritch tentacle things are a good source of power...

I'm going to stop talking now before I reveal any further loss of sanity arising from contact with eldritch horros. Point: excellent mod, sir!

Thanks for fixing it! And telling us in such an entertaining way xD

The problem was that I didn't realize cooldown and mana cost were mutually exclusive. The problem was corrected shortly after the XML yetis finished brutally beating me, so now it should be okay. Just remember to update, or they'll come for you next.
