Alshua's Ellyrion

Descripción
Alshua's Ellyrion is a lovingly detailed overhaul of the High Elf kingdom known for its wild horses and beautiful plains. Led by the legendary "Reaver Princess", Aelin Redmane, Ellyrion lends its lance as a playable faction, bringing a new Lord and Hero type to all High Elves, as well as 6 loreful new units.


The fields of Ellyrion feel as endless as the azure skies above, beckoning elf and horse alike to a life free and frolicsome. But while the sky goes on, this land of gauzy meadows and wild evergreens must end at the Annuli Mountains. There, the mighty Gates, that hold back by bloody force the invasions that would end the innocence of this paradise forever. For those that there stand watch, there can be no gladder sight than the gaily plumed helms of a band of Reavers riding through, bringing elven courage with Ellyrian swiftness to the enemy's unwelcoming doorstep.

First among that wayfaring kindred is Aelin Redmane, who has mastered the fugitive audacity of Ellyrian warfare so well that she is known even abroad as the "Reaver Princess."

Aelin is the likeliest character we know of to be the current leader of the Kingdom of Ellyrion (Arandir Swiftwing is lord of the capital city). We know little about her: she has an unusually large household guard, she has striking red hair and, interestingly, she is known as "The Reaver Princess".

Ellyrion is a dream project of mine, which started with the Ellyrian Princess. I had always wanted this sort of Lord when I played High Elves: a rider with bright lance held high, a silver knight embodying the purity and nobility of the High Elves. I love Ellyrion, with its contrast of white cloth and grey-dappled horses against parade pinks and blue, and the landscapes that were always written more beautifully than they had to be. I hope this mod helps you love it too.

Roster
Playable Ellyrion faction
Led by Reaver Princess Aelin Redmane, with a focus on cavalry and speed.
New Lord type
  • Ellyrian Princess- Cavalry Lord wielding a lance and shield. Option to equip lighter/faster with the Reaver Steed.
New Hero type
  • Harbinger - Hybrid bow and spear Hero specialized in mobility.
2 High Elf Units
  • Reaver Knights - True hybrid cavalry, combining the spear of Reavers and the bow of Reaver Archers, plus added armour. Excellent for skirmishing and chasing.
  • Tor Elyr Redmanes (Spearmen) - Nightelm Spearmen Regiment of Renown.
3 Regional Units
  • Nightelm Spearmen and Archers - Nightelm wood weapons allow these otherwise normal infantry to disable the "Magical" bonus on contact.
  • Ellyrian Silver Helms - Fills in the gap of a Tier IV cavalry unit for High Elves. Ellyrion gains a (Swords) variant.
1 Ellyrion-Only Unit
  • Ellyrian Pegasus Knights - A mid-tier flying cavalry unit.
Horses!
  • Ellyrian Pegasus - A new, Elven-reskinned mount, currently only used by Ellyrian Princesses and Harbingers.
  • Elven Steed Variants - Adds about 10 horse variants of various colors and purposes, a vast increase from the existing 2 variants almost all High Elves used. I focused on variants of a nice dappled grey often used in official Ellyrion art.

Major Features
Ellyrion Reskin
Spearmen, Archers, Rangers, Bolt Throwers, and Silver Helms are reskinned for Ellyrion. Much more than just a recolor, adding new patterns, textures, accessories, weapons and armour, and even faces and hair.
Ellyrian Reaver Reskin
All High Elven factions enjoy a detailed new reskin of Ellyrian Reavers, making them look the way you probably imagined they already did.
Unique Tor Elyr city
Now has a garrison with Nightelm units, just like in lore. Enables recruitment, similar to Tor Yvresse's Mistwalkers.
New Rite and Buildings
  • Rite of Kurnous - Bestows thematic buffs from the Hunter God.
  • Landmarks - Adds High Elf version of Temple of Kurnous and all-elf version of Jousting Grounds.
  • Ellyrian Fields Building - Like other High Elf factions, Ellyrion replaces a building chain, using a different cavalry building with calm, scenic flavor text.
  • Tier IV Stables - All High Elves can upgrade their cavalry building to gain Harbingers and Reaver Knights.
New Art
I make mods because I like making art, so please take a glance at the little things. Loading screen, icons, unit cards and categories, and even the lowly Ellyrian Horsemaster follower. Many are drawn by me, and others digitally painted over to be fancier.

@Alshua, I gave him/her acces to my beta version where he/she should try to reproduce the situation and see if the errors is still present.

In general I don't touch vanilla buildings that much (only landmarks) so not sure where this might come from.

HI Author! I'm just wondering if your mod and the Legendary High Elves mod is compatible as I can't upgrade Tor Elyr once I got it from Count Noctilus. I've a screenshot of it but idk how to past it to you. This only happens when I activate both mods.

To your question on Old World Campaign diplomacy: the Bretonnnia faction: Carcassone (SP) would be open to trade and closer ties etc, but others, generally no. I could get non-aggression packs with other Bretonnian factions sometimes, after I killed enough underground living vermin, but not alliances of any sort. I was thus fighting alone. I saw this pattern with several goes at the campaign.

My core issue was economic: I could not generate enough monies to prepare for the hordes that would eventually come (I guessed this was due to the climate issues I mentioned), at the same time, from multiple directions: the noted vermin, traitor elves, barbarians from the North (and even the bloody Bretonnians would arbitrarily declared war on me (ungrateful creatures that they are). I would be overwhelmed by all the evil them.

Nightelm Units
* Finally allowed for Allied Recruitment (not sure why I was worried about that balance, you can do such crazier things with Allied Recruitment).
* Now also recruitable at Unicorn Gate (mainly added for multiplayer co-op, so your ally can recruit them without conquering you).

Harbingers
* Added three new random traits: Feral, Adventurous, and Wayward.

Old World Campaign
* Added an earlier tier to the Old World-only Landmark, to get you going faster since the climate slows development. Now it builds from a "Reaver Camp" to a "Reaver Waystation.

Fixes
* Properly hid faction effect in top bar (you'll need the room for Phoenix Court effects...)

@Your Mother - You're welcome. I agree it's strange and irrational how many factions dislike Temperate Climate. The intention by the designers, I think, is to avoid too many weird games where AI High Elves conquer the Old World.

@Nixon#1 - Great detective work. Bugs come from such strange places sometimes; I'm glad it wasn't Ellyrion.

I FOUND THAT SOMEHOW ```OLD WORLD CAMPAIGN``` BLOCKS IMRIK DRAGON BATTLES (IN EMPIRES EXTENDED, NOT EVEN IN OLD WORLD CAMPAIGN ITSELF, BUT NOT SURE!!!!1), ABSOLUTE MADNESS.

Thank you for engaging me on this topic. I didn't try this mod for a long time (all the pink is too girly for my taste, but then found a mod that changes the color for all the units except the custom ones so I gave it a go). IEE is fine and fun. I like an Elf cavalry focused faction.

Per the climate: I checked the other Old World Elf factions. They all seem incoherent. I don't think the Old World designer thought about faction climate coordinating. The fellow was only focused on making the map. For example, Imrik is fine in Wasteland, but uncomfortable in Temporate. Eltharion is also fine in Wasteland, but again Temporate is uncomfortable. Teclis is fine in Jungle and Savanah, but Temporate is uncomfortable. These values are bizarre and irrational. Anything you can do to fix the Ellyrion faction would be appreciated.
