Perspective Walls

Описание

Changes the wall graphics to a version using 2.5d forced perspective, You can see the front face of the wall, like in old JRPGs and several classic mode tilesets.

Its required that this mod load before vanilla_environment, as it overrides the default wall textures.

All the major wall types have been added;


  • Soil
  • Sand
  • Unsmoothed Rock
  • Smoothed Rock
  • Engraved Walls
  • Constructed Block
  • Metal Bar
  • Ore Veins
  • Wood Log
  • Natural Ice Walls
  • Smoothed Ice Walls
  • Fortifications (Including the new multi-tile fortifications in DF 50.08!)
It doesn't change the gems or roots as these look fine with new perspective.

Moss & Magma to come in a future update.

Adding to an existing save:
Navigate to the updated graphics in the mod folder in your steam installation:

Steam\steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\mods\2913113231\graphics\images

(Note that sometimes the mod folder has a bracketed number at the end, this changes with each update. Use the highest number)

Copy all images in that folder to the vanilla graphics folder for the game.
Make backups of the original graphics first!
Steam\steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\data\vanilla\vanilla_environment\graphics\images

Note: Doing it this way works, but you wont automatically get future updates.

I haven't been anywhere near a computer to play DF or update the mod myself in quite a while. I'm glad you and other enjoy it. Thanks everyone for their kind words.

Hey man, first of all, i'm a big fan, i never played a single game without this mod, thank you.

I made a little mod with some different engravings graphics, do you mind if I use your PNG as a template? My mod will be dependent to yours, since I didn't change anything else.

This is great except it does not appear to have different graphics for engraved constructed walls!

FOR ANYONE NOT SEEING ENGRAVED PERSPECTIVE WALLS!

I figured it out. Regardless of what your "Obvious Engravings" setting is, the tiles ONLY load and show the "obvious" tile sheet. Which the mod does NOT replace.

FIX
You have to go into Steam\steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\data\vanilla\vanilla_interface\graphics\images
Replace wall_stone_engraved_obvious.png
with wall_stone_engraved_perspective.png
which you can find in Steam\steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\data\installed_mods\perspective_walls (25)\graphics\images

This is driving me crazy how poorly DF handles mods.
Ive literally replaced the vanilla file for stone walls engraved.
Deleted the installed mods folder (because sometimes it prevents mods updating).
Created brand new worlds.
Still, engraved walls will never use the perspective graphics..
Even when the VANILLA file is REPLACED? Where is my game loading the engraved wall sprite from? Lol its insane.

I dont know why but engraved walls aint working for me.
I am using https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2903048024 and Detailed Environment, as well as Rounded Hills and Transparent Glass.
But i dont see why those should affect it since smoothed walls look 2.5d'ified but engraved doesnt.

I think this mod is by far the best on Steam so far as a much needed overhaul of walls and graphics so I can clearly see what level I am on. Seeing a wall being a wall makes it so much easier to understand what I am looking at including level wise as well. For the most part. Everyone should have this mod.
