The Shadeborn, a civilization mod

Description
This mod will add a new dark fortress civilization to invade your fort, composed of creatures that come in eight favours of punishment.

THE SHADEBORN
With a culture designed to make them love their own people and hate everyone else, the shadeborn are meant to be aggressive and warlike and thus likely to be your enemy and invade you in fortress mode.

Each of the eight castes has a special power that makes them a threat of their own. Only they come to your fort as an army, making them, in theory, a hardmode version of goblins. To make them easy to recognize in battle, each has an animal feature that makes them stand out visually, even when in armor.

  • Vexer: Sporting a big tail, they can curse their enemies and reduce their effectiveness in combat.
  • Buffer: Recognizable by their big ears, they can bless and heal their allies.
  • Flier: They can fly, and they can throw proyectiles. Recognizable by their wings.
  • Poisoner: With large bug wings, they can secrete poisons and cause illness to their enemies.
  • Fury: With a shelled body, they are supernaturally adept at combat.
  • Sorcerer: They can use strong magics in combat. Their heads are adorned by antlers.
  • Conjurer: Can summon dark sprites to help them in combat, that can evolve into a stronger form.
  • Evoker: Transforms into a beast of shadow, sacrificing the advantages of armor and weapons for power. They don't have much to make them recognizable when not transformed, but they don't really need it.

ADVENTURE MODE
While not playable in fortress mode, mostly because they would break it in multiple ways, they can be played in adventure mode. As of writing this you can't use their abilities yourself but the AI can use them if they are your companions, or your enemies.

DIFICULTY

Frankly, these guys are not very balanced. But you can deny them most or all of their abilities by targeting the gemstones that adorn their bodies, so they have a weakness.

Why should I download this?
I recommend this mod if you want to add a new sieger that offers extra challenges, if you want a playable race with baked in magic for adventure mode, or if you are like me and like to pile up every functioning civilization mod you can find into ypour world.

DISCLAIMER
I admit I haven't really tested this version much. I've been burn out on Dwarf Fortress and I don't expect that will change until a few months from now at least, and I don't want to procrastinate on uploading this any longer. All creatures work as intended (or close enough as the game allows) and the game caused no bugs in arena mode, but I can't guarantee something weird won't happen in actual gameplay. Then again it may be something FUN.

I noticed that the sorcerer's abilities were rather meh for adventure mode. Vanish was kinda weak. They don't seem to have any powerful spells for combat

I found the graphics thing and have updated the mod with that and some other fixes.

I haven't figured out why summons don't work for players but I'll have to work that out some other time.

I have tested a bit more and I can confirm that abilities are useable by adventurers except summoning ones, those only work for NPCs for some reason.

Also the evoker can transform other characters if they are in the same square.

At least that will be easier to fix than figuring out what's messing the graphics.

Just did a quick test in arena mode, and assuming the crash when trying to use abilities on a second creature is an arena mode thing, they should work without issues.

However, apparently something in some update has broken layered graphics in my mods and there's a skin colored square behind the head of every creature, and also maybe their clothes don't show up properly. So be aware of that if you try them out now, I'll update soonish if I figure out what's wrong.

Does it work in the current adventure mode build? Abilities are a thing now
