---WELCOME!---

Welcome to Graveyard, a fresh, spooky new take on Lumberyard! When you die, your spirit leaves your body, haunting your enemies and healing your allies! Track your teammates through walls, fly to their position, and float around their body to provide the benefits of a level 1 dispenser! Will you group up and stack heals on a strong player, or pair up with a more frail friend to save them in their time of need?

Stay alert as the round progresses, as a rare spellbook can spawn in one of three spots! A unique sound will play to alert you to its presence, after which, you should look toward the night sky- a terrifying beacon will indicate its position! After ten seconds, the spellbook will be fully materialized, so be prepared to fight over it!

If your team is behind, worry not! The last man standing on your team will be awarded a buff and a common spellbook! Be careful, as all players are alerted to your power, and cloak will not protect you.

Kill all enemy players or capture the control point to score your team a point! The first team to 4 points will win the round- best of 7! Take too long, and the Horseless Headless Horseman will clean your mess up.

Now let the haunting, BEGIN!

---Technical Notes---

This map uses a framework of Player Destruction rebuilt from the ground-up to emulate Arena in casual! Under the hood, this map functions using player destruction logic, which is denoted by the "pd_" map prefix. The battle begins as normal, with the ghost player condition emulating perma death. When a team kills all enemies or captures the point, they won't win an actual round. Instead, a point is tallied to their team's score on the bottom of the HUD, and both teams are sent back to the spawnroom. I packed a custom HUD into the map for this purpose (Like other PD maps) that streamlines the information, along with a recreation of the living player counter made from a combination of HUD elements and map logic.

Because this version of Arena is made completely from scratch, it means I got to pick and choose which features to implement. This means NO sitting out, NO more constant scrambles, NO more crit pumpkins, and most importantly- IT WORKS IN CASUAL MODE!

The custom ghost model is done by overriding an in-game asset with an identically named file stored in tf/custom/, packed into the map. If this cannot be implemented on valve's end, it's not the end of the world- a small version of the normal halloween ghost will automatically take its place.

Because I could only create the mode with map logic, there are some bugs i could not fix, albeit very very niche and rare. None are game-breaking, but if you encounter a bug, leave a comment on my profile. Thank you!

Im stunned how Valve can be so stupid to put an arena map into casual mode.

arena is bad gamemode for TF2, hopefully no more halloween maps feature this game ending mode
heal hp as a bonus mission would actually be a very smart idea. that and winning a round. kills as a bonus mission is also good.

can't due that unless valve did coding on their end (very unlikely) but I asked them to replace that mission with winning a round for a lot of points

is there anyway you can contact valve to replace that worthless pumpkin kill contract with something like "Heal 200 HP as ghost"

I've created a new discussion with bugs I've encountered while playing so far. I couldn't fit them all here.
well TF2 should not have "random" crits to begin with. but even more so they shouldn't be on a deathmatch map. so I hope you do disable them. me getting 3 random rocket crits in one round was honestly disgusting. one shotting enemy after enemy on deathmatch.

but then again disabling them would make heavy's mittens useless. so idk if there's a way to disable random crits for everything else except his mittens, but eh. even if it is disabled for him included, it's an okay trade for no random minigun/rocket/melee crits.
