Description
Updates to 1.4 will be postponed until further notice. If someone wants to update to 1.4 you are welcome to do so. Source code is available on github. Link in description.

All I have done is update this mod for 1.1 and 1.2, all other credit goes to the original mod author, Bishop. The original mod can be found here: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1884128648

Requires either RBSE ( https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/workshop/filedetails/?id=850429707 )
or RBSE Hardcore ( https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=850428056 )

Original Description:

Taking Rah's Bionics and Surgery Expansion back to the basics! I love Rah. But I also love stupid pawns. And stupid pawns need prostheses, too!

This mod expands on RBSE by creating an early research project which allows pawns to craft basic (tier 0) prostheses at a smithy. Basic prostheses are worse than simple, but they make stupid pawns happy!

Also, the research required for installing all prostheses will be reduced by 1 level. Just because your stupid pawns don't quite know how to make a bionic arm, just yet, doesn't mean they won't try installing one!

This expansion mod works with Rah's Bionics and Surgery Expansion and also RBSE Hardcore Edition

What is changed?

Experimental transplants! Haven't researched organ transplants yet? That's ok, your pawns can try anyways! But be warned, experimental transplants have a 40% failure rate, and will result in death 75% of the time if you fail. But hey, your pawn was going to die anyways, right? Why else would you be trying an experimental transplant???

Rudimentary tier 0 prostheses, with a new early game research project. Tier 0 prostheses can be crafted at a smithy, and are medieval level tech. You'll need to actually craft a peg leg before installing one. You weren't planning on gluing in a log for a missing leg, were you?

Earlier ability to install prostheses, bionics, and synthetics. All artificial body parts can now be surgically installed one research level lower than what you would need to craft one yourself. Now your stupid pawns won't feel so bad about slacking on research. This also means you can install a synthetic organ once you've researched organ transplants, even though your pawns still don't know how that synthetic organ was made! This change won't apply to bone replacements, or neurosurgery, however.

Lastly, all bionics recipes have been moved back to the Fabrication Bench, and the Bionics Workbench is removed. The extra benches were a little confusing to the stupid pawns. Less workbenches also means more room for linkables! Advanced bionics and synthetic organ crafting still need to be performed at an Advanced Medical Station, however.

So many changes.. What is unchanged?

All RBSE crafting recipes are unchanged.
All the hediffs from the base mod are unchanged.
Research projects are unchanged (though 1 is added, which is already completed in a Classic start).
Apart from being able to do an install surgery 1 tech level early, the install surgery recipes are unchanged.
All non install surgeries, and neurosurgeries, are unchanged.
Advanced medical station building and bills are unchanged.

If I'm forgetting something here, and it wasn't listed in the Changes section, rest assured it is definitely unchanged!

Adding, removing, compatability:

This mod is an expansion for RBSE, and RBSE Hardcore Edition. It is compatible with any mods that RBSE is compatible with. It is safe to add and remove whenever RBSE is safe to add and remove. It is safe to add to an existing save that is already using RBSE if you deconstruct any bionics workbenches first.

My main motivation was to give RBSE functionality to a medieval playthrough, and be a little more lenient on stupid pawns. :)

Credits:

All credit goes to Rah for Rah's Bionics and Surgery Expansion! I had nothing to do with the creation of the RBSE mods. This is an unofficial expansion mod.
Credit also to Ykara, for EPOE and tier 0 prosthesis crafting idea.

@daz_ian

Fixed. Sorry about that, I actually haven't had much time to play Rimworld since 1.3, so I didn't realize that was an issue.

I'm getting red errors about InstallHookHand not being found when I add this mod. According to the comments on RBSE, the hook hand was removed from that mod since this one was last updated.

Does this Mod have any Dependencies, or can I get it as a standalone Mod?

Ack you're right, sorry was half asleep and did indeed post on the wrong page. My apologies.

@Omega13

You're thinking of base RBSE, not this mod. You will have much better luck asking on that mod's workshop page. This only adds a handful of prosthetics and changes some of the research.

Does anyone know offhand if any of the brain implants in this mod will fix a brain scar?

I'll just say that you should take a look at how the cost and efficiency of items in RBSE compares to vanilla. RBSE bionics are not only cheaper but also better than vanilla.

Updated for 1.3 compatibility

@Anon

That would probably fall outside of the scope of this mod, but if you would like to go into more detail about what you are looking for, feel free to start a discussion, and we can talk more there so we do not clutter the general chat.

Any interest in balancing this according to vanilla and removing the bloat? Both bionics and archotect series have better efficiency than vanilla but are supposed to be the same. Bionics are also cheaper to make. "Advanced bionics" are unnecessary.

@all

All of my mods will be updated to 1.3
I just ask that you be patient, my father is in the hospital and work has been overwhelming, so my time for modding is limited right now.
