Description
SeaBoss Systems HERMES Mk.III Medium Transport and Waterbomber

OVERRIDE CODE FOR LOCKED DOORS AND REAR CARGO RAMP: 0397

The third generation of the HERMES Transport Family now with integrated Water Bomber facilities.

Features include:
- Updated Flight Deck featuring AP with 32 Way Points Memory that can be run in SINGLE or ROUTE mode
- Sensor Pod with Laser Distance and Laser Beacon Search operable from SENSOR station
- Passenger Section with small galley, 2 Med Beds and 2 Jump Seats,
- Cargo Bay with 6 MAG connections and 4 Gripper sections on floor. Cargo Bay is larger then the update Mk.II.
- Addition of numerous handtools from v1.0
- Addition of newer anchor fluid connectors for water and fuel to accomodate new hoses.
- 4 Multi Mode Radios (Pilot, CoPilot, Sensors, Cargo Bay) capable of Single Channel or Two Way Communications
- External and Internal Broadcast system that allows a Microphone from either Cockpit or Cargo Bay to Broadcast to external Megaphones or Internal Speakers.
- Multiple range RADAR located in SENSORS Station
- WATER BOMBER - 10k capacity onboard water reservoir that can be supplemented by the usage of paletted water tanks each with their own pumping facilities. Two separate water tanks (3k+ capacity each) are provided in the cargo bay and link to the plane with a fluid and electrical connector bringing the water capacity to over 16k. These tanks can be removed using the CARGO BAY RAIL system. Multiple nozzles on the underside of the plane are rotatable allowing you to change the dispersion size using a Throttle controller mounted on the Co-Pilot's side. To start the nozzles hit either the START NOZZLES button at the CoPilot's station or hit KEY 5 on either the PILOT or COPILOT's chari. To refill the tanks you can either using the water fluid connectors on the side of the planes (when landed) or use the deployable drogues (controls at Co-Pilot seat) in flight that descend from the underside.
USING DROGUES:
- Descend and HOLD ALT at 5 m above the water.
- Slow plane to 40-45 m/s
- Fully deploy the DROGUES (20m) and select that the pump direction is REFILL (indicator light is blank at CoPilot seat). With the drogues in the water hit the START PUMP button to start siphoning from the water source to the main reservoir and any attached water tanks.

Increased Diesel fuel capacity pushes the carry volume to over 22k. The HERMES has an Operational range of 500km+ in High Efficiency Mode and 100km+ in Power mode (toggle button located in centre control panel just next to the Systems Display). I suggest using Power Mode (default) for Take Off, Landings and heavy maneuvering. High Efficiency mode is for long haul cruising. With Power mode on the HERMES is Short Take off and Landing capable powered by 4 DIESEL Vanguard Engine Pods on the wings.

APU available. Controlled from either the Electrical Panel just aft of the main Passenger Section or from a overhead panel just above the Pilot's Seat.

The HERMES is fully controllable from either the Pilot's or Co-Pilot's seat with no switch buttons required. The system works by being "Additive": The control inputs from the Pilot and Co-Pilot are added to together with the final result sent to the Fly by Wire (FbW) system.

GET INTO THE AIR"
Simplified the process from the Mk.II. The formal HOLD SPEED controller has been removed and a modified system add such that is tied to the Throttle Controller between the two pilots (Redefined as the REQUESTED SPEED for the plane). Dial the throttle up either using pushes on the controller itself or using the UP/DOWN keys on either the PILOT or COPILOTS set to set the throttle to the desired speed you want for the plane (displayed in HUD as R.SPEED). Engines each have logic where power setting below 15% will automatically set the Engines to Idle and disconnect the Propeller from the Drive Shaft. This prevents the Engine from stalling out while still allowing the Generators to provide electricity.

START UP...
1. Using the Keys in the Flight Deck Ceiling turn on DIESEL ENGINES 1, 2, 3 and 4.
2. Turn off the Wheel Brakes by either clicking the button in the panel between the Pilot and Co-pilot mounted just below eye level or hitting 6 from the seat.
3.Adjust throttle to have a least 45 m/s R.SPEED
The HERMES will start to pickup speed fast and starts to leave the ground at around 38 m/s when in POWER Mode. You can easily take off from the Creative Base in a straight run out of the hangar and clear the hills.

The HERMES has a HOLD ALTITUDE function. When you activate the HOLD the plane will automatically set the current Altitude as the value to be held (shows as H.ALT in the HUD). You can adjust those values up or down using the buttons on the HOLD panel or when seated using KEYS 3/4 for Altitude. I find using HOLD very effective for Landing. When I line up with the runway I use H.ALT to modify my Altitude keeping it a couple of meters above the runway just before touch down. I then adjust R.SPD to slow my speed so that I'm in a controlled descent. Think of how a real plane works... on landing the plane is pitched up and the pilots adjust the speed to control the descent.

The Autopilot holds up to 32 way points (GPS X, GPS Y and ALTITUDE) and is editable from the panel to the left of the main pilot's seat. In SINGLE mode the plane will fly to the current way point and turn off Autopilot when the destination is reached. With ROUTE the plane will fly from WP to WP in sequence until it reaches the last set WP (will show as *LAST LEG* on the HUD). After it has reached the way point defined as *LAST LEG* it will automatically turn off AP and kick in H.ALT.
NOTE: For AP the requested Altitude will be reached in a "progressive" manner. The AP will progressively adjust the HOLD ALTITUDE in small increments during the leg so that you will arrive at the Destination Altitude.
Even with AP on it is still possible to provide "Pushes" via the Pitch, Roll and Yaw controls. This will allow you to make small course corrections without turning the AP mode off. The plane will make the necessary adjustments to put you back on course. Pushes are useful if you find that your current course will cause a collision.
NOTE: The AP WP Memory is set up in such a way that you can edit way points even while the AP is running. There are two separate channels going to the memory: READ and WRITE. READ is used by the active AP system and corresponds to the Current active WP Number (shown in the NAV.AP 1x1 Monitor and on the HUDs). WRITE is tied to the NAV EDIT system and uses the WP Number defined in the AP Entry Display Panel when in EDIT mode (if CURR is on display panel click on it to toggle to EDIT mode).

flies like a stone and the engines are losing power all the time

Yup. Updates have "borked" the cooling system for the engines. It looks like power output has dropped a bit as well. I'll have to redesign the engines. :(

Has this just broken through the ages? I can't get the engines to not catch on fire

Sorry... previous post got deleted by accident. Hit Delete on my post to correct and edit and it double clicked.

Did you follow the instructions in the description above for getting started? I just tried it and no problems. It's build for Short Takeoff and Landings. Even at a Requested Speed of just 45 m/s I can clear the hills right on a straight run out of the Creative Island hangar. For the Engines there is a High Efficiency mode which puts the engines in to a lower gear improving fuel performance and heat gain. You typically un the engines in Power Mode for Takeoff, Landing and heavy maneuvering. For cruising hit the just right of the lower centre console (below the Glass Display Menu) to put it in to High Efficiency. Even with Power Mode and a throttle setting of 50 m/s I never broke hear over 75'. Engines explode at 120'. Outside of setting it at 65 m/s (max throttle) for a long period of time and your engines damaged will every get to that amount.

Thanks for your comment, MrPanther. Glad you like it. :) I have been considering a version of the HERMES as an AWACS (pulling off the Water Bomber equipment). I just need to find the time to and patience do it. At this time I'm getting a little "burnt out" but I'm still thinking of some implementations for "Generation 2" type of vehicles that will be more modular with their equipment. Only time will tell. Thanks again! Cheers!

hehe.. it happens. :) Lots of buttons, switches and options. Hopes it all makes sense where they are located. I tried to keep like things grouped together and items with priority close in hand.
