About this mod

I didn't like the look of the current borders and galaxy overview. In my opinion there were too many colours for each empire in the galaxy overview and it also didn't make much sense that the primary colour was used as border colour and the secondary colour was used to fill the space within those borders.

I also didn't like that there was an unnecessary pin of each star to the galaxy map. So i made some simple changes (see first two comparision images vanilla and mod).

1. removed the pins from the stars
2. switched secondary with primary empire color => border color and empire color = primary color
3. downscaled the saturation for borders for an even smoother experience

Two Color Empire Variant of this mod (+ additional separate Starpin version of it)

Since this was a user request: here is the same mod but with TWO colors for each empire (primary color = empire color, secondary color = border color)

And if you ALSO want to have back Starpins i.e. Two Color Border + Starpins - which was another user request, you can find it here

This is a light weight mod. Basically compatible with every other mod that doesn't touch this file:

gfx/fx/border.shader

So basically if you dont use another mod for changing your borders you should always be just fine by using this one! This mod should also be up to date without an upgrade when the Paradox Devs release a new patch - since they very rarely touch this file. So you will be able to ignore any warning signs in case i don't upgrade the same day as new patches arrive.

Other recommended mods

The screenshots above include some other mods. Among those other mods there is one mod i really highly recommand using with this one (for the others, see list below). All of those mods are primarily about galaxy overview and purely graphical . I use them all together in conjunction with Aesthetic Borders.
For a more comprehensive list of mods that are compatible with my "Aesthetic"-mods please see paradox forum link

yeah i knew how to change it too, but i did not have time to provide an additional version of this mod (i am busy with my main mods related to ACG). thanks for letting other people know about it though. if you want, feel free to upload your thinner version of Aesthetic Borders if you feel like you want to share it with the community. this is a very tiny mod and there are no issues with permissions if you want to change and upload it to the workshop (unlike ACG where additional permissions would be needed because it's a huge mod project that involved other people's permissions).

I was able to make the border thinner. thank you.

@Ajey, thank you for the mod, to me this looks so much cleaner than the two colour setup everywhere else and there are enough colours that there's no confusion.

@Luckxy I also think the default paradox borders are a bit too chunky as well, It's a single line change to the border shader file if you want to manually tweak this mod to have thinner borders. After downloading this mod, you need to change the file: steam/steamapps/workshop/content/281990/1716939558/gfx/FX/border.shader - and add a "/ 2" to line 190 so that it looks like this:

float vEdgeWidth = 0.025f + 0.35f * vCamDistFactor / 2;

If you save the changed file then reload, you can have thin borders and this mod's colours at the same time. If this mod ever gets updated it will need doing another time.

@Luckxy

yeah it's possible but i don't have time to provide an additional version of this mod because i am busy with working on my main mod (ACG). besides i also do like to keep this mod unchanged because i like it the way it is. i hope for your understanding
