(AB+ Only) Prevent Enemy Replacements

Description
This mod aims to give control of enemy replacements, the behaviour whereby an enemy is replaced with another type of enemy at the start of a room, to the user. This mod only prevents the replacement behaviour from occuring, and will not stop these enemies from appearing normally; any rooms that are designed to contain these enemies will still continue to feature them.

Each replacement behaviour can be toggled on and off individually, or as a group, via commands entered into the Isaac console. In addition, the Mod Config Menu mod by piber20 can be used to alter these settings.

Examples of replacement behaviours that this mod allows you to prevent include, but are not limited to:

  • Boom Fly to Drowned Boom Fly
  • Charger to Drowned Charger
  • Host to Mushroom
  • Keeper to Blister
  • Mr. Maw to Mr. Red Maw
  • Mulligan to Mulliboom
  • Poky to Slide
  • Vis to Double Vis
  • Wall Creep to The Thing

For a full list of options, as well as a guide for using the mod's commands, please check out the userguide located within the mod's files. A short description of the commands is also located in-game by typing "enemyReplacements" into the console.

When I configure what enemy replacements I want prevented/allowed, and then close TBOI and reopen it, anything ive configured is set back to what was default for allowed/prevented.

A new version of this mod has been released that allows for the settings of this mod to be modified using the Mod Config Menu mod by piber20. In addition, the default settings for this mod have changed to only prevent certain problematic enemy replacement behaviours. For a full list of which replacements are prevented by default, please refer to the change notes for this update.

A new version of this mod has been released that makes it compatible with Booster Pack 5, as well as adding support for Rebirth and Booster Pack enemy replacements and console commands that allow you to toggle on and off each enemy replacement behaviour individually or as a group.

I'm aware of this issue. The way enemy replacements are handled was changed in Booster Pack 5, which does not work with this mod's current implementation. An update should be released very soon that will fix this issue.

@Gigobitto
I respawn the enemy because morphing doesnt give the morphed entity some attributes of what you're trying to morph it to, and it can result in some weird and buggy interactions like the enemy being unable to move or its position constantly being set to something. For example. if you morph a scared heart into a different pickup, that pickup will still run away when a player gets near it.

Im aware of that version, but Ive experienced fps stuttering (mostly probably due to the fact that hes not using "moph", but hes directly respawning the enemy. So it would be cool if you coul upload a version just for ab+. cheers :)

There's a mod uploaded by piber20 that only disables Afterbirth+ replacements. I would suggest checking that mod out if you're interested.
