Dawn of War 3 is an absolute disgrace.

It is an failure because the developers (Relic Entertainment) chose to target the "casual audience" and doing so have not only betrayed the fans but killed the CORE of Dawn of War.

Let me explain: DoW2 has abandoned RTS-genre base building in favor of action-RPG with some mild RTS elements.
This switch in genres has angered many as it is not a true sequel in a technical sense.
DoW3 wanted to have the cake and eat it too:
they tried to fuse the base building from DoW1 and Hero units from DoW2, but in the end failed miserably at BOTH!
1) Base Building: There is a small amount of buildings and no system in place. Not even turrets are available to defend your base, a staple feature of the previous DoW games.
2) Heroes: These new Elite units are unkillable tanks that require whole armies to be put down. These MOBA-genre heroes break the balance and remove any risk. Not fun, pff.


Why is it that ALL Warhammer games are ALWAYS BAD!?!
Is it Games Workshop who put their grubby fingers into everyone's business? Who is to blame!?
Before the success of "Vermintide" and "Total War Warhammer", they had finally created a successful franchise which was "Dawn of War" and they squandered it!
1st the FAILURE in DoW1 Soulstorm, then swapping genres from RTS to action-RPG in DoW2 and then the copy-paste campaign of DoW2 Retribution.
DoW3 was so promising when first announced!
The CGI Trailer is one of the best ones ever made!! ..now we know what they spent all the money on..


DoW 3 brings shame to the entire Dawn of War franchise.
With every new game, people are expecting an upgrade, not a downgrade at everything!
These bastirds knew from early development that their game is trash and did nothing about it!
The game was released in an UNFINISHED state and they haven't done anything to fix that in 6+ years!

Why are we back to the 3 starting RACES from DoW1?
What makes the Space Marines, Orks and Eldar so unique that DoW always has to be about them?!?
-The Tyranids, Tau, Custodes and Necrons are much more popular than Eldar.
-Chaos Space Marines and Demons are a core part of the Warhammer 40k universe itself!
-Imperial Guard and Mechanicus are great too. ALSO would fit with the Imperial Knights in this game ! ! !
So WHY are we stuck with the basic white bread 3 races???????
...oh yeah, because they wanted to sell the other races separately as DLC. They even dared "teasing" it after the credits.

The CAMPAIGN merges all 3 races and you swap after every mission.
They were too lazy to create unique campaigns like DoW1 and DoW2!
The story was not bad, but not amazing either.
There are no cinematics, only a boring powerpoint slideshow...

The ANIMATIONS are the WORST. All units look like cartoons, Gabriel Angelos in Terminator armor looks like a clown and jumps like fkn SONIC! ...They completely given up on the lore at this point...
And where are all the unique animations?
All the cool kill animations from DoW1 and DoW2 that made these games so great?
They skipped out on us! These rats have cut one of the selling points of DoW !

Remember how the MAPS in DoW2 were beautifully crafted with a lot of attention to gritty details?
Well forget about that here, because all maps are sterile and clean!
How can a war-torn battlefield be CLEAN!?! This is so lazy and apparent. The devs need to step on a Lego.

The COVER system is just the icing on the cake. They had a fully functional cover system in DoW2! Why did they have to create a new one and one that is so stupid?! The bubble that pops up on the cover is laughable and the units in cover becoming immortal is just absurd!

TACTICS were thrown out the window, you win by simply snowballing the enemy with your huge army. Resources gather very slowly and are few on the map. Units are expensive and if you lose your Elites early, you are basically stuck in a ditch and have to wait 10+ minutes just to get even.

The worst thing for me was how all units in DoW3 were like toy soldiers. In DoW1 and DoW2 you could FEEL the units, their strengths and impact on the battlefield.
The voice acting was better, the sound design was superior and the kill animations were cool! Here, they all feel expendable and mediocre.


These are the most obvious negatives that I experienced but I would recommend a great Youtube video made by Poncha called "The Fall of Dawn of War 3" that goes into more detail.


We have to mention the ridiculous price of the game. How even dare they?
Even on sale, I ain't giving $10 to them.
Got this game for $4 and only because I wanted to know for myself how truly bad this trash game is. Do not waste your money or time on this garbage.

Even if we put ourselves in the shoes of a newcomer, they would have heard of the horrible reputation of this game. Most likely they are w40k fans and will be disappointed by the lore inaccuracies and cringe. Multiplayer is dead, nobody bothers.
Who even is this game made for ?


This game is so bad that not even MODDERS want to touch it with a stick!
DoW1 and DoW2 are still being played and kept alive by a dedicated modding community.
It is not even worth trying to salvage it.
Dawn of War franchise is DEAD.
