Wonderful platformer about trauma and loss. Every aspect of the game is perfect. The visuals are gorgeous, every frame is a work of art, screenshot-worthy. The soundtrack is top-notch, I find myself listening to it even on its own, which I don't usually do. The platforming is great, and the controls are smooth and quite easy. All around, Gris is a game absolutely worth experiencing at least once, especially for the visuals and music combo that's magnificent.

A perfect example of how video games are a legit form of presenting ideas, art, and stories.
Gris is generally interpreted as a story of a young girl dealing with the stages of grief. Whilst that's the broad description of it, it is much much more than that. Since it can be seen as an abstract idea with no specific descriptive details on what the story is, it does a phenomenal job at using the visuals and music to embody that abstract feeling in the way you feel related to it, and it shapes your view on it based on your experiences in life. This is not just another video game, this is a canvas painted with passion, emotion, and true feelings.
If you stumbled on this game, please do not ignore it or skip it. No matter what genre you lean onto, it will not disappoint you if you put a small amount of time to experience this artistically crafted sorrowful tale.

I played Gris a year ago from the date of this review, and it was during a time where I was at one of my worst feelings due to a certain life situation. Everything was dull, depressing, uninteresting, and painful... Gris reminded me at that time to stop holding onto the negativity no matter how bad my situation was, and accept it as it is and move on, as the future depends on what you do in the present. Lamenting over and over and over on a certain event or action will only hold you back longer, so moving on will give you the energy to look forward to the future.
A year passes and now here I am, again feeling my worst, but replaying it helped me have a breather from all what surrounds me. And I am happy it made me shed tears again.
