Even after all these years later and a bigger sequel, Portal is still a great and unique experience. To cap off The Orange Box in 2007 with a game that combined the inventiveness and quirky atmosphere of an indie title with Valve's graphical power, worldbuilding, and polished design was nothing short of brilliant. So many of its moments became memes but, if anything, they don't reflect how cleverly written and designed it actually is. Portal won't last most players more than a few hours, and its puzzles are never particularly complicated, but Portal is consistently high-quality from beginning to end. Even if you don't like first-person shooters or puzzle games, give it a chance.
