I already played the demo back in June and was already curious about how the final product would turn out. And wow, I didn't get disappointed. Saltsea Chronicles offers rich worldbuilding and a colorful cast of characters, all with their own struggles and secrets (and, well, a baby). The presentation is stellar - from the quirky characters to the breathtaking locations and the soundtrack.

The game contains branching paths in a couple of chapters. These will lead to different islands, which are equally self-contained episodes but also connect back to the greater narrative. The writing takes you through highs and lows, from murder mystery plots and spooky stories to a post-apocalyptic religion, whose relics all stem from the present-day world. However, the apocalypse was not really an end to everything, but rather humanity's starting point for something new. Many conflicts and struggles of today's society have been washed over by the sea as people came together and reconnected with the world and each other. Saltsea Chronicles is a consoling story full of hope - a game about the things that unite us, even though we are all different and unique.
