A very ambitious and original indie/AA game. Its kind of jank at times and everything feels somewhat unpolished and under-baked, but I found the story and the odd combination of game genres very interesting. The constant progression and base building coupled with the drip of the story really kept me going through the somewhat mediocre gunplay and overly long middle act. If you only enjoy high budget streamlined and polished AAA type games that play it safe then this is not for you. If you enjoy originality and story enough to put up with some jank, then I would recommend.

I can't think of a single game quite like this. Amazing gripping story, world building, and art direction with what can only be described as an intricate 3D metroidvania with dozens of different and unique mechanics to play around with. It doesn't hold your hand and it can be tough at times, but if you have some patience and use your head a little its incredibly fun fascinating and engaging.

We've all seen voxels used for destructible environments before. Voxels for destructible bodies, however, is a new one to me and its a great idea. The scenarios and workshop levels are fun for a bit, especially with modifiers, but imo the most fun part of the game is the arena challenges and the roguelike mode. I'd recommend even for the full 20 because theres much more than 20 hours of content here. I just wish more games had wonky ragdoll physics and a dark messiah kick button like this one does.

This has got to be one of the best retro boomer shooters I've ever played. Amazing aesthetic, gunplay and level design. Difficulty can be challenging, but not overly or artificially so. I never got lost or stuck on anything for more than a few minutes. The weapon upgrades and abilities were a nice touch without pushing the game into RPG territory. My only real criticism aside from the slightly slow start is that the voice acting on the journalist character has got to be some of the worst I've ever heard. I'd recommend playing as the priest for that reason alone unless you like the unintentional cringe comedy of it.

Doom Eternal if it was made by Ubisoft.

Requires the quake tweaker to properly run on modern systems without blurry textures (see pcgamingwiki). Once thats installed the graphics and game has held up very well. The ragdolls are amazing and really make the guns feel impactful.

One of the best games ever made in terms of dialog, story and world building. The problem it seems like a chapter is missing and it goes right from beginning to end. The DLC is actually very big and it fixes some of the pacing problems, but without it the story ends way too abruptly. I'd recommend buying the game on sale, but get the complete edition.
