It's Killing Floor, but with significant influence from Helldivers and Deep Rock Galactic.

While you still have to buy your way through the weapon tiers you can now make your own loadouts per weapon that costs more than the bog standard version, each class has a new unique special ability, and you can make use of a new equipment slot (ammo drop, health kits, etc).

However characters are tied to a specific class now and as of writing there is no chicken outfit.

A mixed bag, it's fun to create your own ships but I swear the AI cheats because Mexico just dumptrucked it's 8th hidden fleet in a year.

Also the tutorial is garbage, go watch videos of people playing the game instead.

A charming retro inspired ARPG with responsive controls, a fairly robust movement system, and fairly straight forward build/stat system (up to you whether or not that's a good thing or a bad thing). Each of the 3 classes (warrior, mystic, bandit) are tied to a specific stat (strength, mind, and dexterity) they can take the most advantage of; though nothing is stopping you from focusing on a different stat, just keep in mind your abilities are going to far more limited. On that note it is vitally important to use your character's abilities because running up to an enemy and just holding down attack will only get you through the first few levels before something large and a lot meaner than you smashes you into a thin furry paste. Learn to block, learn to dodge, and learn how each of your attacks work.

The gameplay loop is immediately familiar to just about anyone who has played a RPG: fight enemies and search dungeons for loot so that you can fight harder enemies and search harder dungeons for loot. The dungeons are fairly varied and while the enemies are mostly recolors each new tier of enemy introduces new complexities to the fight... or they just waddle up and slap you like always.

While designed for multiplayer co-op it is more that capable of being played single-player. It might be more intense at times with nobody to help take the pressure off when you start to get overwhelmed but the game is never going to stop you from progressing until you bring a friend.

Now finally to address the thicc kobold with the huge knockers in the room. Yes, the vast majority of characters are going to be built like a Pixar mom and are going to be a anthropomorphic critter of some sort. If that's going to be deal breaker for you then this game is certainly not for you.

Spent 10 minutes learning the complex methods of starting and driving a train, took another 5 minutes to accidentally slam into another train. 10/10

For better and worse this is a mostly upgraded version of Gundam Breaker 3.

Gameplay has mostly been improved from previous entries with each mech being able to carry up to 4 weapons (two ranged, two melee), with up to 8 recharging abilities that you must wait until their recharge finishes before using again, 4 that require energy from a gauge that you fill during gameplay (damaging others, being damaged, and potentially over time) that you can fire as often as you want as long as you have the energy, and a single special attack that requires filling a second independent from the previously mentioned gauge. You gain parts that grant you these abilities by going on missions and fighting other mechs that will occasionally drop their parts for your use. For the most part there is no requirement on what you can use so nothing is stopping you from unleashing an eyesore with all the best parts. In between missions you can upgrade your mechs individual parts with straight upgrades and specific tuning.

Abilities saw a massive upgrade compared to older titles even if you might find yourself favoring Macross quantities of missiles interrupted by the occasion nuke and/or funnel/drone swarm. After a part has been upgraded enough it built in abilities become available to any mech, allowing you for the most part to use any part you want with little concern of built in abilities. In addition you have 8 slots to add optional parts that might grant you access to certain abilities or just look cool. It does have some annoying visual choices on the part of the developer where if you use an ability from another part that you don't have equipped it will swap out that part temporarily with a wireframe version of the part that has the ability and all of the optional parts will return to the default mounting position when fired (meaning those 8 vulcan guns you put on your shoulders and torso will clip into each other when fired regardless of how far apart they were). It's doesn't really affect gameplay, but it annoys me.

Part selection is better than previous titles (except the mobile game) with a wide variety of mechs to choose from. In addition dual wielding of any ranged weapon and most melee weapons is now available and left and right arms now can be chosen independently allowing for greater customization.

The level design is a massive step down from previous entries, especially in comparison to Gundam Breaker 3 and New Gundam Breaker. The respectably sized levels have been replaced with a series of tiny themed but mostly empty arenas. Probably my biggest disappointment with the game.

Bots are as dumb as they come while still being able to be considered actual bots. Enemy bots rely on being damage sponges and having high damage attacks to be any real threat and can easily be baffled by terrain (probably why level design is so simplistic compared to older titles), and friendly bots are nearly useless with their only use being reviving you if your health is depleted (if ordered to and their AI doesn't get confused/distracted).

DLCs are so far, for better or for worse, completely unnecessary. Seemingly most of the mechs being variations of ones you will already have access to via the base game and no gameplay alterations that will put you at a disadvantage without.

A huge percentage of all added mechs are slight variations of ones you can already find in the base game.

Chill little game about building up a tourist trap destination while befriending the slowly growing population. Has a character creator for the player.

Main gameplay loop involves scavenging resources on the islands and surrounding waters, using those resources to improve your equipment but mostly the town so tourists will spend more money, using the money to buy more upgrades which will require more resources to complete, and repeat.

If I had a nickle for every short but very well done platforming game I've played this year with retro graphics where you play as some sort of mutant goat person I'd have two nickles.

Which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice.

Hey hey, people. Ssethtide here.

This game is like Pokemon if you reduced the combat down to "victor has the better stats" and expanded the breeding.

I'm not even joking.
