Alien Swarm is an excellent game with loads of potential, but I must highlight that there is an even better and newer version available named Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop. It is also free and accessible on Steam. While both games are essentially the same, Reactive Drop offers numerous improvements, including additional campaigns, updates, PVP mode, and continued support. If you are a fan of Alien Swarm, I highly recommend giving Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop a try. You can check my review here.

Now, returning to the original Alien Swarm, it's a prime example of how a fantastic game can be left to decay over time. Despite this, it still provides a pure, enjoyable experience, especially when playing with friends. Although there is only one official campaign, the community has created numerous fan-made campaigns that enhance the game's replayability.

However, it's essential to note that the player population in Alien Swarm might be relatively low. This is due to the significant draw towards Reactive Drop, which offers more content and features, leading players to migrate to the newer version, which as I said, is pretty much the same game.

Also, Alien Swarm is one of the games that will never stay in your Steam library if it is not installed. Ask Valve why. Definetely has something to do with the fact that it is free to play, but as you might know most games stay in your library even after uninstalling, no matter if you gave money for them or not.

For achievement hunters: the game features 66 achievements, including some speed-run challenges. I'm uncertain about their difficulty and how feasible they are to obtain given the current player population. Additionally, keep in mind that, as mentioned earlier, the game does not remain in your library. This makes it more challenging to showcase your 100% achievement completion to your real-life friends. I might be trying someday to complete the game 100%, and then I will come back with my experience.

In summary, Alien Swarm is undeniably fun, and I encourage trying it out, particularly for the official campaign and the fan-made content. But if you're seeking a more updated and enriched experience, don't hesitate to give Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop a shot, as it builds upon the foundation of the original game and provides a superior gameplay experience.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon - Enhanced Edition offers an enjoyable experience initially, but unfortunately, it loses its appeal over time. The gameplay, particularly the combat, is the primary concern and falls short of expectations. As someone who wasn't a fan of this genre and lacked experience, I found the gameplay repetitive and frustrating, often resorting to circling around enemies just to catch a glimpse of them briefly. While I am uncertain if this is the typical Ace Combat style or a deviation from its predecessors, it still proved exasperating for me. Additionally, the poorly executed dog fight mode and basic helicopter and machinegun missions felt like filler gameplay, contributing to the overall disappointment.

The story in Assault Horizon - Enhanced Edition left much to be desired, following the cliché "russians are bad, americans are good" narrative, which failed to captivate my interest.

Regarding the graphics, they were decent, with satisfactory airplane explosion effects. However, the terrain textures were noticeably low-res, which could have been improved for a more immersive experience.

On the subject of controls, I strongly advise against using a keyboard and mouse setup, as it proved to be inadequately optimized, causing further frustration during gameplay.

For achievement hunters: the game offers 50 achievements, but they are notably challenging to obtain. After conducting some research, I found that their difficulty level is around 8/10, which means they are quite demanding. Furthermore, the game includes multiplayer achievements, and given the likely non-existent player population and the fact that the gameplay itself isn't as enjoyable as it should be, I've decided not to pursue them (and suggest you do the same).

Despite having high expectations based on the reputation of the Ace Combat series, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend Assault Horizon - Enhanced Edition. Although the first few hours provided some fun, the overall experience left me disappointed, leading me to eagerly anticipate the end of the story campaign.

Once upon a time, gaming was all about intense multiplayer battles in CS:GO, Dota 2, and Hearthstone. I was never truly drawn to story-based games, although I did appreciate them; my heart belonged to competitive multiplayer. That all changed when I stumbled upon Cryaotic, a fantastic YouTuber whose series had me hooked. But it was one particular series that broke the mold for me, making me pick up Batman: The Telltale Series. This game blew my mind with its ability to let me craft my own story, engage in dialogues with characters, and make life-altering choices. Batman: The Telltale Series has earned an everlasting spot in my heart.

From the very beginning to the climactic end, this game captivated me, despite my limited knowledge of Batman's universe. In fact, it was this very game that introduced me to the world of Telltale games, and for that, I'll be eternally grateful.

The experience of playing Batman: The Telltale Series was truly unique. It felt as if I had stepped into a real-life movie, assuming the role of the "real" protagonist and steering the narrative with my answers and choices. It was an exhilarating feeling. Every character was carefully crafted, and the entire game exuded a polished, high-quality finish.

I must admit, I didn't expect this game to offer completely divergent routes that would overhaul the whole storyline from A to Z. However, the choices did matter, albeit to a certain extent. They shaped the way the story was told while keeping the core idea intact. And you know what? I didn't find that disappointing at all. Some choices carried more weight, influencing the long-term, while others affected only short-term outcomes. The beauty lay in never being certain which decision would lead to which consequence. Characters changed, their interactions with you transformed, scenes unfolded differently - the possibilities were vast. I cherished the opportunity to mold Batman/Bruce according to my own personality and desires. Nonetheless, consequences did loom over every decision, and that's something not to be forgotten. Although we're not talking about alternate dimensions where Batman fights aliens in Budapest, the impact of some choices is still pretty significant. Nonetheless, certain elements remain constant, yet the game weaves such a compelling web that it's hard to discern which ones they are.

Gameplay-wise, there's nothing groundbreaking to boast about. Each episode offered brief segments where I controlled Batman or Bruce, solving puzzles or engaging in various activities. Occasionally, I got to interact with objects, and the dialogue choices gameplay was a key part of the experience. And let's not forget the Quick-Time events, which surprisingly, I enjoyed quite a bit - and I'm not usually a fan of them in most games. Admittedly, the gameplay lacked significant challenges, but that wasn't the main focus anyway. Batman: The Telltale Series thrives on delivering an immersive story rather than challenging boss battles. As a result, this game is accessible and enjoyable for almost anyone. Even my girlfriend, who usually sticks to smartphone games, got swept up in this adventure.

Oh, by the way, let's clear one thing up: Batman: The Telltale Series is not just another adaptation of the original Batman universe. It is an entirely separate entity, standing firmly on its own ground. This means you don't need an ounce of prior knowledge about Batman. You can dive into this game without any influence from previous Batman experiences.

For achievement hunters: the game has 30 story-based achievements, all of which are obtained while beating the game.

In conclusion, Batman: The Telltale Series is an unforgettable journey of choice and adventure. It transformed a multiplayer enthusiast like me into an avid fan of story-driven games. The power to shape the narrative and the richness of the characters truly make this game shine. While not a gameplay revolution, its focus on storytelling allows virtually anyone to savor this gripping tale. So, if you've ever yearned to become the Batman and explore a captivating world of choices, consequences, and self-discovery, this game is an absolute must-play.

What an utterly captivating multiplayer gem! This game encapsulates simplicity at its finest, boasting a dazzling infusion of brilliance that's bound to keep you grinning from ear to ear. Prepare for an electrifying rendezvous with entertainment, backed by a stellar OST that’s practically music to your gameplay-craving ears. But, alas, even amidst all this glory, there's a somber truth to unveil – the player base is a tad on the lower side. Yet, fear not, for if you manage to muster a squad of enthusiastic players, you're in for an explosive extravaganza of enjoyment!

For achievement hunters: the game features 76 achievements that can be earned. According to what I've been told, all but one can be obtained with bots. I can't say how challenging this journey might be, but I do plan to give it a try sometime in the future. If I do, I'll come back and edit this review accordingly.

EDIT: Below, you can check out my original Counter-Strike 2 review, which was initially recommended. That was until I discovered that the Counter-Strike 2 update completely removed all the achievements I had unlocked prior to the update. This is absurd and a major disappointment to the community and to me. As an achievement hunter, I value my achievements. It took me hours upon hours of work to earn them all, and you take them away with an update? I find it impossible to recommend a game that can wipe out your progress in the blink of an eye, deleting everything you've achieved. If they can do this to the achievements, who's to say they won't do it to other aspects of the game as well? Therefore, unless they decide to restore my hard-earned achievements, this game remains in the "not recommended" category for me, and I will never touch it again!
I am disappointed in you, Valve.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Counter-Strike 2, formerly known as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, offers a gameplay experience like no other, masterfully blending skill, tactics, and teamwork. However, before you dive into this competitive shooter, there are several crucial aspects to consider.

First, let me commend the CS2 update. It is precisely what this game needed - a new engine, significantly improved graphics, gameplay enhancements, and new features scattered throughout. A big thumbs up to Valve for this.

Lately, I've found myself growing bored of CS. Allow me to provide some context: I have a rich history with the CS series, dedicating thousands of hours across several Steam accounts to the original CS, which holds a special place in my gaming heart. Naturally, my expectations for CS:GO (now CS2) were sky-high, and it didn't disappoint, cementing itself as one of the best games ever made.

At the core of CS2 are competitive 5v5 matches, where players strive to outwit and outgun their opponents. The rush of adrenaline and the thrill of winning rounds are unparalleled. While this mode forms the game's essence, CS2 offers a wide range of official and community modes to explore, including a battle royale mode. Regardless of your preferences, the game provides plenty of excellent gameplay, and it's all available for free, which is a significant plus.

However, as passionate as I am about CS2, I can't overlook one glaring issue—the game's community has a significant toxicity problem. Surprisingly, I've encountered similar levels of toxicity only in Dota 2. The CS2 player base includes its fair share of trolls, throwers, and team-damagers, all of whom can make matches frustrating and exhausting. When the stakes are high and the competition fierce, it seems that some players forget basic manners and sportsmanship. This darker side of the community significantly impacts the overall experience, leaving many players with a sour taste in their mouths.

Thankfully, Valve has taken steps to address one of CS2's most pressing problems—the prevalence of cheaters. Multiple security systems work together to minimize cheating and maintain the integrity of the competitive environment. The current state of CS2 is arguably the best it has ever been in terms of cheater control. While the issue is far from eradicated, it is considerably less prevalent than it used to be, offering hope for a better playing experience. However, new players might face a different set of challenges. Building up trust factor requires time and dedication. For those just starting, encountering numerous new accounts (which are often associated with cheaters) can be disheartening.

Another aspect of CS2 that stirs mixed emotions is the skin and case system. On one hand, the skins add a layer of personalization, allowing players to showcase their unique style. On the other hand, the case opening process is reminiscent of a casino simulator. Players purchase cases, spend money on keys to open them, and often receive skins of lower value than the cost of opening the case. This system has faced criticism for promoting gambling-like behavior among players, leading some to spend exorbitant amounts of money in pursuit of coveted skins.

In conclusion, CS2 remains a captivating and rewarding experience for those willing to navigate its ups and downs. The exhilarating gameplay, the joy of victory, and the desire to improve make CS2 an addictive pursuit for many. However, the community's toxicity can be significant hurdles for some players. Nonetheless, for those who appreciate the thrill of competitive shooters and the challenge of mastering a high-skill game, CS2 continues to stand tall as a beloved classic in the world of gaming.
