I love video games
Video games are art. Gaming is a unique form of entertainment. Nothing can immerse someone quite like a video game. It's my passion, my hobby, and my addiction. And that will never change.

It all started with games like Adventure Island, Aladdin, and Mario on a NES-like copycat console when I was just a kid. It continued with games like Hercules, Prehistorik, and The Lost Vikings on my first PC running Windows 95 or 98 at the time. Later, during the Windows XP era, some of the first games I played were Dune 2000, Red Alert 2, and Doom.

My little hobby eventually evolved into a big passion, and somehow, it turned into an addiction when I started playing Counter-Strike. It was a significant addiction with a dozen Steam accounts and thousands of hours spent on CS. Even when I got my hands on a PS2 and enjoyed games like Soulcalibur III, it couldn't rid me of my obsession for CS. Nor did the other two games I played extensively at different times, 9Dragons and Warcraft III. I got a PSP, which did manage to give me a brief break from CS, thanks to games like Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, but only temporarily.

Over time, I replaced one addiction with another: Dota 2. Two Steam accounts and around 5k hours in the game. The game that eventually pulled me away from Dota 2 was World of Warcraft. That became my third major addiction, but if there's one I have no regrets about, it's WoW (not that I regret the time spent in the others either).

Thousands of hours later in WoW, what ultimately changed me and made me no longer focus solely on one game was Batman: The Telltale Series (R.I.P. old Telltale), thanks to a YouTuber who was doing Let's Plays (Cryaotic). When I realized how much fun there is in completing games, it completely changed the way I viewed video games. With that change came the creation of the Steam account I now use.

Today, I play a variety of games, both old favorites and new discoveries. But what I truly enjoy now is experiencing amazing stories and fully completing games. For me, that's the best part of gaming—the immersion in story-driven games and the satisfaction of completing a game or unlocking its achievements.

Finishing the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, there was no way I wouldn't try the video game again. I have to thank the anime; this is the perfect time to play the game. What a huge difference in comparison to how it used to be. I have to start the review with this: technical issues. I had no performance issues at all, and the only game-breaking issues I've had were three crashes in about 80 hours of playing. Glitches and visual bugs are still present. Stuff like cars randomly spawning, quest NPCs killing other NPCs while driving and acting like nothing happened, car textures disappearing making you drive into and causing accidents with... nothing, and NPCs disappearing and appearing weirdly. That is all. Don't imagine that happens too often, because it doesn't, but they are there. Those visual bugs are there, and while they shouldn't be in an AAA project as big as Cyberpunk 2077, anybody who's seen this game at launch and even later knows it's nothing in comparison. Because if you close your eyes every 1 hour or so when something like this happens... the game is perfect.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an amazing game from all points of view. I've had a blast beating it; it was one of those games where if you start it, you can't stop until you beat it. The universe is rich and amazing, the RPG elements are nice, the decisions, and the amazing set of characters, really well done. If I had to critique something, it would be that there are way too many gigs, and for people who want to finish everything, it is a grind, and I also did not like the romance options I had; I expected more, expected something different.

Not only is the main story great, but there are also some really well-done side stories around the place that really intrigued me. Most side quests were really good, like really good. I don't remember one I disliked.

At one moment, as is common in most RPGs, there is a quest that marks the point of no return, rendering side content inaccessible. The game also provides a warning before commencing this particular quest. If you enjoy the game, I highly recommend purchasing the Phantom Liberty DLC before embarking on that quest, as its storyline unfolds and is playable prior to the conclusion of the main storyline. Additionally, the DLC alters the available ending options and introduces other changes. Therefore, if you wish to avoid the need to replay the final questline later on, it's better to have completed the DLC beforehand.

For achievement hunters: After beating the main game, I am 23/57. I will update the review after I obtain all achievements because I plan to do so.

It is very hard for me to continue writing about the game without spoiling anything, but if you are a fan of choice-matter games, RPGs, and shooters, this is THE game for you. If only the game had launched in this state...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I never do this. I never review a game before finishing it. This is the first time I do this.
I have only played 7 hours of it and I have to drop it for the time being. I might try it again in the future, when maybe another year has passed, since now, 1 year after its launch, it still has big performance issues. At least for me.

There's not much else for me to say about it, as I did not yet experience enough of it. Only that it did look interesting, but was not blown away by it. But I am just disappointed that after 1 year it still has issues. The first hours were ok, until I got to the openworld night city, where I can only get 40 fps most of the time. That is what makes me drop it. I am not going to play with 40 fps with the PC I got. And meddling with the settings makes no difference whatsoever. Low or Ultra, I still get 40 fps. And because I spent 7 hours in the game, my refund request has not been accepted by Steam.

So, from my own experience so far, my verdict would be for you to keep it on wishlist, if you're that interested on it, and, although 1 year's passed, to still wait for more peformance optimisation or whatever future patches will bring. Buy it at a later date, or never.

As I said, in the future I might give it another try and if my experience will be different, I might change the review. Until then, this game remains in my eyes as the gaming industry's black sheep and a big ,/, from CDPR to their fans.
