Who is this game for?
Mostly for fans of the previous Fallout games or anyone familiar with at least a Fallout 4 game.

Summary
It may not be perfect but it ain't a bad game either, there is a lot of content to play through and game changing updates every few months.

Playtime: 50+ hours

Achievements: easy / time consuming

„Full“ Review
(may contain spoilers)

1.Story
The story was garbage at first, just listening through the holotapes scattered around and reading terminals..., this changed after the Wastelanders update which added human NPCs to the game.
Now the story quests are 30% garbage and 70% good or better since the holotapes/terminals are still part of the questlines most of the time.

Steel Dawn questline added in the newest update is finally something that we were waiting for, an actual questline with NPCs. I enjoyed playing through steel dawn quests and helping the Brotherhood of steel.

2.Playability
Playing the game feels smooth, most of the hit registration problems were already fixed. Melee build is not very satisfying though in my opinion compared to other games and hitting something from 3rd person is sometimes impossible.
It is pretty much Fallout 4 with some new stuff and multiplayer.
But do not expect to one shot everything with your sniper rifle, unless you play a very specific build. It is not as easy to get overpowered compared to singleplayer Fallout games.

Understanding how all the perk cards work can be a bit confusing at first, but it all makes sense in the end.

3.Graphics
It does not take the crown for being the best looking game in the world, but the graphics are on point. Character and weapon models look great. On the mid-high settings, the game looks amazing, and you can use the photomode to take some beautiful pictures that will replace the default loading screens.

4.Music
I always liked the Fallout radio stations, this is the one part where they did not go wrong.
It is a big part of the game, unfortunately pretty much all the songs are copyrighted.
“Country roads, take me homeeee, to the plaaaaaaaceeee I beeelloooooonggg, WEST VIRGINIAAAA”

5.Other
Trading / currency and other limiters.

Let’s start with the trading.
You cannot trade in this game, you can only BUY and SELL you cannot trade an item for an item.
Trading was a huge part of the Fallout series in my opinion and taking this out is very annoying.
Trading with other players is all based on trust since you can only drop your stuff on the ground and hope that the other player does not take it and leave, I luckily had only a good experience so far.

The second thing is the currency.
There is a limit on how many caps, scrips, and gold bullion you can have at one time, I did complain about these in the past. All the limits were increased to a reasonable point and it takes a while to reach the maximum cap.

Unfortunately, the main issue that the limits introduced stays in the game, the high tier items are valuable way more than the caps and are only traded item for item between players.
It also feels like once you reach the endgame there is not much to spend your caps on anymore.

Now for the third thing, the limits in general.
I have to say that the stash limit is more than fixed, it is now double the amount it was when I have written this review 2 years ago.

What else is limited?
You are also limited on how many caps you can get for selling items to the vendors this resets daily, also you are limited on how many gold bullions you can get each day and how many items you can scrip.
Thankfully these limits were also increased to twice their original value, and it is now way more player friendly.

6.Game Modes

Nuclear Winter - R.I.P. was a Battle royale style PvPvE which was finally removed after all the time it was still in Beta and mostly broken. The 1% of players that played it cried about it in discussions but that’s about it.

Fallout Worlds replaced the Nuclear Winter, in this mode, one of 5 settings applies and shakes things up in the Appalachia, for example, infinite ammo or increased enemy difficulty and such. The progress from the Fallout Worlds does not affect the progress in Adventure mode. You can create your own Private World with your specific settings if you have Fallout 1st subscription.

What I like about the game
I have to say that Bethesda did a good job at keeping this game alive, there were way more problems when I started playing it. A lot of the updates introduced new features and stuff.
They made playing with other random players easier, by adding team groups.
Allies are cool, but they don’t do much in the camps, they were way more useful in Fallout 4, in Fallout 76 they just stay in your camp and walk around.
You can always play solo even in public sessions, the only problem is with the bigger events which are impossible to do without help from other players.

Shelters! Added in one of the updates, they are actually pretty cool, all of them can be purchased without subscription now, I feel like they could make it easier to build inside since there is still a lot of limits but it is better than a camp workshop.
Legendary perk cards are also a great way to reward players that have been playing this game for a while.
I would say that all the updates were actually good and did improve the overall gameplay.
I also have to mention the legendary crafting, which now allows players to have legendary Power Armor mods.

What I dislike about the game
Trading is still bad and pretty much does not exist.
No ingame chat only voice-chat is just not good for multiplayer games.
The game can feel empty once you complete everything.
The co-op aspect is not as big as you might think, you will have to complete most of the quests solo.
There are some game breaking bugs that are reoccurring way more often than they should.

Should you really buy it?
I was not sure if I should buy it, so I waited. Then it was in sale during a Free weekend, so I tried the game, played it for more than 20 hours in 2-3 days. So yeah, I would say it was money well spent.
If you are deciding between Fallout 4 or Fallout 76, I would go for the Fallout 4 since it has way way way more content, the multiplayer does not add that much to the game, and most of the time you will be playing alone anyway.

Can I recommend this game?
Sure, but can I recommend it to everyone? That’s the real question, I would say if you played Fallout 4 and liked it, you will most likely like Fallout 76 too, otherwise you better wait for some Free weekend to try it out and find if it’s your jam or not.

TheGhostik’s personal notes
Just because I like the game does not mean everyone does, I was going to buy it anyway, it was just a matter of time.

TheGhostik👻was here and left a note with recommendation.
