Never played a gayer game in my whole life.

As far as Musou games go, this one isn't too special - biggest difference between this game and Dynasty Warriors is that this one's faster. Unlimited dashes; constant, near-instant travel between bases; frequent Musou attacks - although their animation can feel dragged out. The battle music isn't very memorable, but fitting. Indoor music that plays while you're alone with your Servant, though - may as well light some scented candles around your PC I mean hot damn spare my poor little heart...

As far as Fate media goes, nothing here feels as profound as stuff in Unlimited Blade Works or FGO's Camelot Singularity. Not even close, I'm afraid. Still, it's nowhere near as bad as some other anime games with offensively dull storylines, either. It's perfectly servicable. Full disclosure, though - I've only just finished the first arc. I'll update the review should the subsequent ones make me dramatically reassess my view on life... Again... Though frankly it's possible I'm just a complete sucker for shameless and overwhelmingly gay romance within a fighting-heavy story. I'm not proud of it, but thanks for the gender options, game.

Update: my second wife won't stop misgendering me

Update: Okay, it's a miracle that this is my first time saying this regarding a Fate character, but... this has to be just a fetish thing. I mean, a gentle giantess that keeps you as her slave while her normal-sized counterpart treats you like trash? I mean I'm not complaining but

Hear me out.

The game feels very amateurish, and the first levels are a frustrating slog. Make it a little further though, and you'll realize a very peculiar thing - the game feels like it was actually playtested. The ammo and health drops are placed very purposefully. And since the mouse just doesn't work for aiming, the game feels balanced around slowly turning the camera with arrow keys and shooting while either moving in one direction or just standing.

There are both difficult and easy stages, but I actually found myself using my brain during the entire playthrough. I have no idea how this game managed to maintain my focus for 3.5 hours straight. Even games I really like often fail to hold my attention for this long per session. I set a goal to beat it in one sitting, and I did. Something to ponder later.

It would've cost the developer nothing to just publish an absolute trash game and collect the meager revenue from those who wouldn't, for different reasons, refund it. But that's not the case - there is actual effort here, if obscured by a lack of skill in important areas.

If we assume the developer tried their best, though, the first level flies in the face of that idea. It may even feel like it's intentionally bad, but not for any satirical purpose. Anyone with vain hopes of uncovering a hidden gem could very well hit the refund button in less than a minute. The contradiction is baffling.

What's my deduction, then? Well, *lights up pipe*, I happen to think the developer was learning to make a better game as they went on, and didn't improve its rougher earlier stages once they were done. I don't blame them, honestly. It'd be a start of an endless cycle, as by the time the first stage is improved, the second one will draw attention to itself. Walk this path to the end, and you'll realize the ending could be better as well - and then you'll give the first level a mean look once again.

You can always improve, but eventually you'll have to put your work out there. At some point, it has to be "good enough". The only alternative is being the best it can possibly be, and few people ever feel like they've achieved that stage. Comparing one's work to others is also a futile effort. There's always a game that's better than yours - and it's all too easy to forget all the games that are worse than yours. Not to mention, it's inescapably easy to delude oneself into exaggerating or diminishing the quality of one's game in one's mind.

So try your best, walk this path just once, and move on, before you fall into infinity.

The translation is comically bad, though. I'm pretty sure Google Translate would've helped produce a better result. CANALIZATION sounds like a sick band name, though.
