Doesn't offer anything that Valheim doesn't already offer you. Instead, you get a mess that's poorly optimized with poorly tuned gameplay. It starts well enough, and it was easy to sink a few hours into, but eventually you're dealing with too many nuisance timers between hunger, thirst, fatigue, being hunted, getting attacked by warbands, and getting put under dragonfire. The real kicker? None of those last three share a timer, so you can get hit with all three at once. The moment you deal with them and get yourself rested back up? They come right back. This would be fine in later game zones, but you start dealing with this early in while you're still learning crafts and trying to explore to get new recipes for better items.

I do like the graphics, and the building is pretty good. Though, we could use some flat roofing options, or roofs that can slant both directions for the middle of the roofs.

This game has a lot of potential, but it's hard to justify $30 for the current state. Especially when Jagex has a habit of shutting down every other game they've ever made besides RuneScape. RuneScape Chronicles had potential. RuneScape Idle Adventures had potential. Yet, both projects were shut down and made unplayable the moment sales ended and RS player numbers lowered. If this starts taking away from RS and sales slow, I worry that I'll find myself unable to boot this game, too. Doesn't help that this is bleeding players quickly because everyone seems to be jumping back to Valheim.

The deadlines you're always thrown really ruin this for me. I feel like I shouldn't explore because I might mess deadlines and have to restart. I don't feel like I should rush a deadline because then the next deadline immediately begins. There is some happy balance in the middle that just isn't beginner friendly. I get why people would replay this and love it to the point that that ridicule everyone that dislikes the game, but it's really hard to recommend this game over Wrath of the Righteous, which lets you take things at your own pace while you learn the game.

Maybe coming back to this after Wrath will make me like it more, but I don't know. When I cleared Act 1 and saw that only 49% of players have cleared Act 1 on the trophy stat, I realized that my struggles with this game aren't just me.

Too complicated and involved to be a simple game. Too basic to be a complex game.

I don't know. It just falls flat.

Nah. Not for full price. There is something here, but it feels like it falls short. Why is ESC the only key that can exit menus? If I use left alt to bring it up, let me use left alt to take it back down.

I do like how you control the allies by requesting certain abilities with hotkeys. I think there is a lot of good stuff in here but... it just isn't delivering. I'll definitely check this game out on a sale. Probably when it's $20-30.

My biggest gripe is that it feels like Starfield where you could tell they wanted to do more and probably got rushed out by Microsoft. Many NPCs have no interaction. All dialogues seem to lead to the same outcome, and all you can do is change the discussion up until that point. You're not going to talk your way out of combat. You're not going to branch away from the linear quest progression. Follow the icons, proceed.

Combat is decent. I like that attacks feel like they have weight to it. If I had Gamepass, I'm sure I'd play more. However, I'm not about to drop $12 to play more, and that says a lot. I also find it ridiculous that the $25 premium pass only gives you... two really dull looking outfit packs.

As for the main character, you're the mary sue of mary sues. Whatever you say goes. Want someone to be your past lover? Just say they are. Bam, they're now considered your past lover. Struggling with combat? Don't worry, you get a free second wind. Die before that cools down? Welcome back to right before the combat encounter in your prime. Ally goes down? Go up to them and hold the help key for half a second. They're now back in full.

There's potential here, but it falls flat, and what little I experienced of the story and lore is far from exciting, too. Beautiful environments, but I think I'll go check out Pillars of Eternity if I want to experience more of the world. I apparently bought it on a sale forever ago anyway.

If I had to guess on the positive reviews, it's just because vast majority of people are avoiding this game to begin with. I'd say it's being over hated. It hasn't come off as "woke" to me beyond letting me pick my pronouns and then giving me an option to hide them from my character sheet (lol okay). If you pick he/him, they'll call you "Sir" occasionally. If you pick she/her, they'll call you ma'am, occasionally. If you pick they/them, they'll avoid addressing you with a title at all. I suppose that's a step up from games that let you pick pronouns and never address you as anything other than "Adventurer" or something.

I really would recommend giving this a go if you already have Game Pass, but don't bother buying it, and don't go out of your way to pay for Game Pass to play this, either. Just wait for a massive sale. Maybe Microsoft will eventually learn not to rush studios and let them fully flush out their titles.

Better if you played 1 and 2, because despite being 120 years later, you will still run into characters and history from BG1 and 2. Overall, a great game. Act III is rougher than the previous two acts in that it really wants you to just talk to everyone, which is jarring after being given quest markers the entire first two thirds of the game. Especially since it decides to stop giving quest markers for everything in the act that has the most NPCs by miles, given that it takes place in the city.

Make sure you have multiple saves towards the end to see as many endings as you can for your run. They can range from feeling really meaningful to being completely awkward. A year later, the game still suffers from rushing out to beat Starfield, but it's still well worth grabbing. Your experience with Act III will also greatly depend on how you handled the quests in Act I and Act II. The game continues building on prior quests. It might be good to look up points of no return if you want to get the most out of Act III.

This is such an odd "game". I'm sure you're here because you saw a streamer raging over one of the puzzles. By the time I reached it, I already had a strong idea of how to solve it. My playtime is how long it took me to clear the entire game. It's honestly very simple. It pretty much guides you through with the way interactivity progresses, and for that I do praise it. However, it's super short and too simple.

Some scenes are also annoying with how slow things move.

Game is fun and fast paced. It still has some room to grow, but I think I'll be playing a lot of this. Only complaint I have is that the menu interface feels like a mobile gacha game.

Having come from Naraka, I'm perfectly fine with region locked servers. I don't need to deal with foreign high ping invaders again.

Edit: I had hope that Episode 5 would come out when Andrew said it could be completed in 2-3 months of the team focusing on it. 7 months after that statement, Episode 5 has been halted in favor of bonus exp/gold for turning items in. This game is 8 months old and has nothing to show for it but constantly changed design plans. This game is 8 months old and we still cannot craft armor. In exchange we're going to get a bunch of item turn in bounties? The announced mini-games, which we have no information for, would have to be phenomenal to justify not being able to make your own armor. A botany skill? Forager and gatherer already give you whatever you need with a 100% drop rate. Why would I bother growing my own? Farming in RS was beneficial because you could grow your own herbs instead of killing enemies for random drops. We don't have that problem in BS.

Original: Changed my review back to negative. This development team has no sense of direction and is desperate to announce solutions they haven't settled on. They have no idea how to successfully fix the split combat levels, and each proposed solution just feels worse. Now you want to do level scaling? So if I'm combat level 1500, I'm going to have a harder time leveling up and advancing through new regions than a level 80 character?

I loved RuneScape, but the episodic core of this game is clearly not working out. I have no faith in this game for the long term.

I feel like this game really falls flat. It tries to tote itself as a return to Budokai Tenkaichi, and I'm not feeling it. Maybe because I only ever played Budokai 2. It doesn't even feature any of the classic music unless you fork over an additional $30, and that's even if you have the ultimate addition.

Also, the "180" characters is highly overstated. It's just that you have numerous character variations with different movesets combinations. (They don't vary that greatly, either.) Get hyped for "Goku (Z - Early), Goku (Z - Mid), Goku (Z - Mid SSJ), Goku (Z - End), Goku (Z - End SSJ), Goku (Z - End SSJ2), Goku (Z - End SSJ3), Goku (Super), Goku (Super SSJ), Goku (Super SSG), Goku (Super SSGSS) and such variations of every character. Each one has slightly different abilities than the last. You can also swap into them using the transform menu mid-battle. It's just roster bloat for advertisement reasons. The characters are also completely imbalanced to be close to lore accurate. Which also means online is ENTIRELY SSGSS Goku and Gogeta (fusion characters fully heal upon fusion.). Don't like playing Street Fighter online because it's endless Ryu? Welcome to endless Goku.

It's nostalgic, but it just doesn't deliver. The attacks are cool, and it really feels like you're in a cinematic battle, but that also gets a bit old after a while. The special attacks could be quicker, but I suppose that wouldn't be in true Dragon Ball Z fashion. I was really hoping that the story mode would feature fights from Dragon Ball, even if just a few, but it jumps right into DBZ. I remember Budokai letting me battle through the entire story of Z, swapping characters depending on the battle, and I loved that. This? You get Goku. You want to play as a different character? Swap to their individual story mode. Don't expect to fight as kid Gohan, Tien, Yamcha, or Krillin, though. They're just there for multiplayer and some bonus missions. This is Goku's game, and that's the case online, too.

One last night, using the R3 as a counter button is wild, but it's because so many buttons have to be used in the game. Fortunately, you can remap everything.

It's not a bad game, but you move slow. It's pretty dull getting through the early portions, and Sisyphus controls poorly. To an extent, that adds to the challenge, however it's annoying that he'll push the boulder downhill if you chase after it it from behind and get too close. On that same note, the boulder will roll downhill much faster than Sisyphus. I think that's a fair mechanic, but it would be nice if Sisyphus could run faster downhill to give the player even the slightest chance of being able to catch the boulder if they lose it. Sure, it would make it easier, but I also think it could easily be balanced by more difficult obstacles. As it stands, everything is pretty easy for at least the first third of the game except for some random moments.
