5. Super Paper Mario

Probably the sole reason I got back into playing video games besides smash. There was a while (a few years) where the only games I would actually play were Smash Wii U and Melee. Playing through this made me regain my love for story-driven games, and really video games besides Smash in general. I owe a lot to it for this reason. A solid game with a great story and world that holds a special place in my heart.

4. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I remember waking up everyday just to do all of my daily stuff for this game, and then being sad when I didn't have much left to do in it, so I would wait for the next day to come, and do it again. I have way too many great memories with this game. The animal crossing world was one of peace and freedom to do what you wish. A genuine escape from reality, to a world where you control how your little town lives. I loved it for that reason. It really just represents a simpler time in my life, and it always provided an escape for me when I needed it to.

3. Danganronpa (Lean towards first game)

Danganronpa is really something. I was truly entranced when I first went through this series. The gameplay kept me invested. The plot kept me constantly wanting more. I think that every single game in the series has its own personal strengths; I was surprised by each new iteration. I became more motivated in the real world because of this series. I used to think about Danganronpa nonstop and I genuinely wish I could go back to the days where I was discovering everything new in the story for the first time. An outstanding example of the impact of a well-done and interesting murder-mystery. Awesome series. The first game is probably my favorite, as I believe it is the most well-kept game of the series, and all of its ideas were brand new to me as a player.

2. Persona 5

Persona 5 is the first JRPG that I've ever beaten. This game made my junior year summer vacation into my favorite summer break of all time. I remember forming a sleep schedule just so I could play it during the night to fully focus on the game. I would wake up and instantly get excited to see what happens next time I play. It has one of the coolest art styles that I've ever seen in a video game. It also has some of my favorite game music and possibly my favorite video game track ever. The concept of the game is so cool to me. I love the idea of having a group of people who don't necessarily fit in being the same people who change the world for the better. The characters of the game are amazing in general, with each character bringing something new to the table. I don't think there's another game that has characters that I consistently like as much as Persona 5 does. Generally just the best experience I've probably ever had playing one single game to finish.

1. Super Smash Bros. (The entire series)

There's so many things I could say about smash brothers, but to put it shortly:
I have never understood the mechanics of something so much in my life. And being able to use those mechanics in awesome ways is just way too satisfying. I've also never been as more excited in my life than when new characters or mechanics get shown off for the newer releases. Being able to play as so many Nintendo (and other) characters and fight as them in super deep competitive battles is just so awesome. There's also just so much stuffed into each new interaction, with the amazing music, the things to collect, the various single and multiplayer modes, etc. Plus, I've met many of my best friends through the series, and I've gotten to know them better because of it as well. It's nice to have a community to engage in. As cliche as it is, this series changed my life. If I HAD to pick one game, I might choose Smash Bros. Brawl, as I believe it has the most nostalgic value to me. Funnily enough however, it's my least favorite competitively. The most impactful game series on my life to date.
