Metroidvania, rougelike, hack and slash side scroller; what type of games is this really?

Came back to this game for a fresh playthrough after 100% sea of stars and got to the first dlc boss and remembered why its trash. For anyone new trying this game out, enjoy the base game. Don't play the dlc. it sours the entire experience.

I would love to see a sequel to this game. Loved everything about it, literally everything. With their success with Sea of Stars, I hope their next project would be The Messenger 2

I've been enjoying Sea of Stars lately, and after hearing that The Messenger takes place in the same setting, I've grown curious. Thing is, I originally decided to give it a pass because of how clearly it took inspiration from the likes of Ninja Gaiden, and similar games from the 'Nintendo Hard' generation. I would like to make a backup save as I play so I can get the trophy I Quill Survive. You have to get to the Quill Queen without dying. Having a backup save to fall back on would be helpful in getting that achievement. I didn't see any save data in the local files. I don't know where the save data is located and if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it, thanks....
