I wanted to like this game, I really did. I play some of the table top game and am a fan of the universe, but I simply can't make excuses for this. It is broken garbage. It's riddled with glitches, the damage system is an unpredictable mess, the mission design is horrible and doesn't work at all with the way game mechanics work, and sometimes, it straight up cheats. Let me give you some of the highlights.

-I successfully completed a mission, but during the ending cut scene, the model for a space ship clipped through one of my dudes that didn't despawn, and the game counted that as a fail.
-One of the A.I. units broke and would not enter the map. I had to move my guy to the edge of the map and sensor lock/lrm it to death over the course of 20 minutes.
-An objective truck that on paper should be killable in one hit won the RNG lottery and tanked four racks of SRMs and then drove off the map. They didn't miss, they just hit and didn't work. This is not a glitch, that's just how damage works in this game.
-Your units will often get randomly one shotted at the start of missions. Again, this is not a glitch, the damage system just works that way.
-The game will start a "race to finish" style objective in a mission that is physically too far way to reach with your mechs in time.
-On the same mission with the truck, a unit with a ppc that supposedly had direct line of sight to my one unit that it kept shooting remained invisible and I could not should it back despite being able to see it.
-Sometimes, you will select a unit to move, and the game will skip your move phase.
-Likewise, you will occasionally just not be able to shoot. You will complete a non-sprint move, you will have line of sight, but the shoot button will just be grayed out.
-Sometimes, you will spawn a million miles away from the enemy and spend 5 minutes walking to the start of the mission.

To top all of this off, even when everything does work right, the combat still consists of slow paced slugging matches that lack most of the depth the diverse choice of weapons would imply it offers. I tried this twice after taking a break from it for a few months, but I can't do it. It is simply too awful to finish playing, and I can't force myself anymore.

The pacing is the biggest issue - it takes ages for the game to finish 'loading' after you move your unit, and then after a few seconds finally gives you control back so you can move your next unit. A few seconds doesn't sound like ages, but it is in a turn-based game where you move 4 units on each one of your turns.

It also missed a lot of the important concepts from games like MWO or MW5 such as max drop weight for a mission, which made light/medium mechs viable throughout the entire game - they're just entirely useless in this one. Salvage occurs from 'mech parts', collect 3 and you make a mech, and the only way to get all 3 is to get a headshot, which is about a 2% chance on a called shot which costs 30 Resolve.

Performance is awful - 30fps on Ultra on a 4090. Graphics are quite ugly and don't hold up well when you zoom out, which is required for any tactics. Campaign is incredibly lazy, with cutscenes being 2d sprites, and voice acting being the exception - most of the time it's just another text dump. Missions are extremely forgettable because they're all basically the same thing, and your strategy never changes. And, let's not forget the terrible DLC practices of Paradox

All that could be forgiven because the mechs are cool, if it didn't take 1-2 hours per mission because of the extremely slow pacing of turns

This is more of a neutral review, but leaning towards negative. Still worth getting on a deep sale.

The only part of the game I actually enjoy is the mech customisation screen. I really like putting together new builds and trying them out. The only limitation is money, of which you'll never have enough.

The rest of the game is meh at best. You're running around a small chunk of space like a headless chicken doing missions to get money to pay for things, some missions advance the story. Missions themselves have a variety of objecives, but they ultimately boil down to have the biggest stick, well, 4 sticks, bash everyone over the head with them, and pray to the RNG god you actually hit something. Spoiler alert, the only thing you'll hit in the beginning is your head against the table.

Long story short, this game gets boring real quick, just empty calories, lots of time sunk in it, little satisfaction.
