Worst idea ever and will kill off the game if implemented
Hats are keeping this game alive (as much as you dont admit it) and removing them is will not give people incentive to buy them, aka no sales for the game which will lead to the game's plug getting pulled. There are people who even make money making them in the workshop and making this an option will add fuel to the flame. As much as you don't like them, they are an necessary evil that have to stay in this game, denying so is a major admission to coping. The unusual hat prices will crash since this update will enable people to not have to see them.

I guarantee you they'll never do this especially with the new Counter Strike game since they know people pay 5 figures (money wasted) on knife and AK-47/M4 skins. Same applies to all other multiplayer games that have flashy, show off cosmetics that people buy.

also we don't know if the plug will be pulled, how could we? It's an idea never tried so we might as well test it. That's how we progress. Not everyone will remove hats by the way so there will still be an incentive to buy them. Valve could also just remove this if they are losing money. They wont pull the plug, the game is too big. I do respect your opinion.

I don't *really* get why people are so upset, like this doesn't delete hats from the game? It just allows people who can't afford better specs to have an option to increase performance. Would also remove distractions for a lotta people. I imagine most people wouldn't even use this option, but it's still a decent thing to have. I don't think it will ruin the economy or whatever, people are still gonna have their unusuals and most people will see them. It certainly won't kill the game lol and hats aren't what's keeping the game alive that's the players.

Don't see how this is a rebuttal? Yeah, players spend money on hats and whatnot and this will mean there's just slightly less incentive to do that but like, if people buy less hats that's not gonna kill the game? They're still gonna play it regardless if people see their fancy unusual (if they even have one). Hell, this might even bring more people in, because more people will be able to run the game.

Don’t believe in it. The game wouldn’t of last if hats were never introduced.

I should be able to disable hats individually so I can stop seeing RF hats like the Max's head but still see swag hats like Mann Co. Online Cap.

Most of the cosmetics are pretty well balanced to not look like "i'm hiding in a cave with my new Minecraft stone skin" .
But still , it will be interesting to play the game a few times without hats , as OP says "undisturbed by hats" .

Also , meanwhile in DRG modders change/disable appearance of skins on clientside just because "why not" .
