Hearts of Iron IV

Reworked Air Designer
Feedback
Note that I was playing the mod on Kaiserreich

1. Overall I really enjoyed the mod and wouldn't be giving feedback if It wasn't the case.

2. I think that the basic rocket rails should give naval and port strike mission capability, (even if the damage for those missions is set to 0) as the current system means that you can't 'upgrade' existing aircraft to use the better rockets without reconstituting the air wings and losing any experience.

3. I'm glad that heavy fighters are way more viable in this than in hoi4, but I think it's gone too far in the direction of them having uniformly superior stats, and just being better at pretty much everything.
With the mod as it currently exists,I think the way it works is, more engines -> more thrust -> more agility. Interestingly, a medium frame with 2 engines and a fighter setup seems to have more agility than a light frame with twin engines and a fighter setup. I think some or all following should be considered:

-> Base Agility for a Heavy Fighter (Medium Airframe) should be lower
-> There should be progressively higher agility penalties for Adding Extra engines (Adding twin engines to a Light airframe, or 4 engines to a medium airframe etc.) but this is compensated partly by extra engines increasing defense (more engines = aircraft is more survivable)
-> In addition to the agility penalties resulting from higher weight, there should be percentage penalties to agility and speed associated with adding rear gunners or turret.(And more generally, consider having small percentage speed/agility penalties to any module that would reduce aerodynamic performance)

4. The divebreak modules should apply percentage bonuses to ground attack. I don't think dive breaks should be applying bonuses to naval damage inflicted by torpedos, though I'm not sure if it's possible to fix that short of saying that you can't have torpedoes and dive break, and there were historically bombers that had both dive breaks and could launch torpedoes.

5. The pressurized cockpit module should probably just be deleted and have its functionality included with one of the higher tier Canopies, since you can actually make a plane with an open and pressurized canopy, alternatively, just code it so that pressurized cockpits are only compatible with certain types of canopies.

6. This is more of a tall ask, and frankly not required from a balance standpoint, but I think especially for Strat and Tactical bombers that there is some way to separate the plane's payload capacity (i.e. combined weight of bomb
