FAQ: Probably Worth Reading
There's been a few questions about Omnicide that get asked a lot. This is here to address those questions.

How do I capture territories?
When you move an army division into a city, that army will 'occupy' the city. This means that the enemy won't get any GDP from that city. If you occupy enough cities to control a certain amount of the population in one territory, you'll capture and annex the territory. Keep in mind that in most maps, each territory is the entire faction!

If you want to capture territories, be sure to enable it in the game settings, by adjusting the occupation threshold in the 'Configure' menu when you set up a new game.

Can I play and win an entire game without using nukes?
You can! You can score points by using chemical and biological weapons against cities, or by razing them with armies, and as usual you'll win if you have the most points when the game ends. You can also win by being the last player standing, which you can do by capturing every enemy territory with armies and forcing them out of the game.

Something to consider though, is that usually, the game only ends once the pollution meter goes up to a certain level, and nukes need to explode in order to raise that level. So theoretically, if nobody ever uses nukes, a game can drag on forever, even if everyone is dying from other weapons. But, thanks to my new White Flags mod, you can force a faction to surrender by killing off a huge portion of their population by any means, which means you can win by using chemical weapons, bioweapons, army massacres and territory capturing, or any combination of the above, all without needing to use a single nuke.

How do I drop off army divisions and spec ops using vehicles?
To deploy a ground unit that's being carried by another unit, like an army division being carried by a transport plane or a spec-ops team being carried by a helicopter, what you need to do first is select the unit that's carrying the unit you want to deploy. Then, in the bottom left, select the unit you want to drop off. Then click somewhere on the map and the unit will be dropped off in that location. You can pick up deployed units by selecting a unit and then telling it to move to a unit that can carry it. Note that on some maps, this mechanic is a little finicky so you may need to mess around to get the units close enough to pick each other up, especially with naval vehicles. Also, keep in mind that transports won't deploy units past their maximum return range, and that transport planes can't swoop down and pick up entire divisions for obvious reasons.

What's a covert unit and how do they work?
There's a handful of units that are stealthy and discreet enough that they can't be spotted under regular circumstances. Bomb trucks, Spec-ops teams and Spec-ops helicopters are considered covert units, as they're trained to blend in with their surroundings and avoid detection. As a result, they will only be detected once they're very close to the enemy. However, certain units specialize in finding covert units, namely Security checkpoints, as well as opposing Spec-ops teams and their helicopters. Once a covert unit is spotted, they're very easy to destroy and almost anything can attack them. So, if you're worried your enemy is going to sneak up on you, deploy some spec-ops and security checkpoints to keep them out.

The production and research techs don't seem to do anything. Are they broken?
Nope! They're working just fine! The techs that increase your production and research capabilities will speed up how quickly you can build units and research other techs respectively. You may have noticed that the research/build times don't change though. Don't worry! Even though the stated times are the same, they actually tick down faster than normal if you have the appropriate techs. So even though the timer might say something like 40:00 mins to research a tech, depending on what boosters you have, it might actually only take 35:00 mins, for example. The timers not changing is something I can't fix, but you can rest assured knowing that everything is working properly under the hood.

Why are my units unarmed?
Some units can be unlocked before they can be equipped with appropriate weapons. ICBMs for example, can be researched before acquiring nuclear bombs or bio/chemical weapons. In this case, you'll be able to build a missile silo, but have nothing to arm it with! If your units are coming up as unarmed, check the tech tree and see what you need to research in order to get weapons for your new toys.

The game ends too soon! How can I play for longer?
If you find the game is ending before you can properly exterminate your enemies, go to the 'configure' menu before you start a game, and adjust the countdown timer and lower the contamination speed. Personally, I like to run at 25% contamination with no timer.

Does this work with other mods?
Some of them! This mod changes A LOT about the game, so it has very limited compatibility with mods that edit or add new units or technologies. However, it's still compatible with almost all map mods, as well as most mods that change other things about the game, like Apocalyptic Sightseeing or any music mods. If you're planning on using a mod that changes the actual gameplay, I would suggest putting it above OMNICIDE in the mod list, but be warned, there's no guarantee that it will work!

Personally, when I play ICBM, I like to use OMNICIDE on the Rerolled Ultra map with Apocalpytic Sightseeing and White Flags enabled. My goal with those mods was to provide a more immersive, expansive and in-depth ICBM experience. I'd recommend that for the best Omnicide experience!

How can I support your mods?
With respect Master Wayne, perhaps this is a man that you don't fully understand, either. A long time ago, I was in Burma. My friends and I were working for the local government. They were trying to buy the loyalty of tribal leaders by bribing them with precious stones. But their caravans were being raided in a forest north of Rangoon by a bandit. So, we went looking for the stones. But in six months, we never met anybody who traded with him. One day, I saw a child playing with a ruby the size of a tangerine. The bandit had been throwing them away. So why steal them? Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with.

Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Nah but seriously, if you like my mods, just rate them up or leave a nice comment.

I don't seem to be able to occupy anything on modded maps, like Alt Strangereal. Army divisions sitting inside all of their cities with massacre off, 60% threshold, no signs of anything?

Are you sure you've captured enough? For most custom maps, each 'territory' is the entire faction. Rerolled Ultra is the only exception. Even on Strangereal, where the factions might be split up in different pieces, you need to occupy the ENTIRE thing.

There's also occasionally a bug where capturing won't register. If you save + reload, that should fix it for that match. It's not specific to Omnicide though, so nothing I can do about it personally.

I have every city captured now, although I think it could be something else causing it? Im invading Erusea and it kind of just...dissapeared from the territory highlighter and scoreboard, now there's just some 'aurelian pact' that they allied with?

Edit : So maybe just an odd trigger messed up

Nvm I appear to just be dumb, It looks like the nation is dissapearing once captured, without me gaining the territory, Because it happened on the other map as well

Does the AI know how to use everything in the mod? Or is it just pvp
dounttron  [developer] 15 Aug, 2023 @ 6:52pm
They're not good at using armies, spec-ops, bomb trucks or heavy nuclear torpedoes, but they can and will use everything else. I'd argue that the AI in this mod is more unpredictable and difficult to beat than it is in the base game. That being said, you can always cheese it with armies and commandos if that's what you -really- want.

I have also found that capturing every city in an enemy territory just causes them to surrender, instead of giving you the territory, as bloodstorm mentioned.

any fix for this?

That's probably an issue tied to the map not having separated regions. It should work on Detailed Earth and Rerolled Ultra but I can't make any guarantees about any of the others.
