  • Windows 11: (VERIFIED WITH EXCEPTIONS)

If you're experiencing any trouble installing or launching the game please check the following:
  • Ensure that your Steam folder and the underlaying directories are NOT in a directory that requires admin privileges
  • Ensure that your Black Mesa Root Directory path is: */steamapps/common/Black Mesa
  • Check if the bshift directory is in your Black Mesa Root directory
  • Ensure that you don't have any outdated files in your local bshift folder. (We recommend a full reinstallation of the bshift folder with any new Chapter Update)
  • Ensure that the workshop content package is FULLY DOWNLOADED before installing it into your Black Mesa directory
  • If you're launching via steam, check if your launch params are: -game bshift

Will not launch
Tried launching from Steam and using the .bat file in the workshop folder but they all come up with an error that says "Setup file 'gameinfo.txt' doesn't exist in subdirectory 'bshift'. Check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting."

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mod and it doesn't work, I also tried looking for gameinfo.txt in the bshift folder and I did find it but nothing seems wrong with it
Having the same issue. I'm using a custom launch command through Steam with Proton.
Got it working after setting up a symlink.

The `bshift` directory needs to be accessible from the Black Mesa directory. You've to set this up manually.

See 'INSTALLATION METHODS' in the workshop page description.

Yeah it's really not hard when you pay attention carefully. It's a simple drag and drop. :)
The confusing part is that the instructions imply "OR" between three options when in fact you need to do at least ONE on the first TWO, THEN use the properties "-game bshift" option. It implies that the Steam option is equal to the first two and that's all that's needed when it is insufficient alone.

When I try to create a "symlink" it says

"The syntax of the command is incorrect...
Could not link - nklink failed.
Press any key to continue . . ."

I have tried multiple times and yes I ran it an an administrator; I almost forgot but I didn't;).
How do you download it ??
Hello please someone help me idk where and how to dowload it

We'll rework the installation methods, because that symlink way does not work on some versions of windows i think. Try manual copy-paste install way, it definitely works. If you do it correctly.
To those of you struggling to launch the mod, go to

D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\362890\2424633574

Or wherever you installed steam. In the 242 folder, copy bshift and the bshift.bat and move them to

D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Black Mesa

Remember, it's just the bshift.bat file. Do not use the OLD or any other one as they seem to crash most users. Once you do this, run the bshift.bat as administrator. This seems to fix the problem. Although some computers can't handle it. I use a 5 year old Windows 10 and if runs fine. If an old laptop can run this, so can your PCs.

Developers of the mod, please pin this to the to the top for everyone to see.

I cannot make this work. The "Setup file 'gameinfo.txt' doesn't exist in subdirectory 'bshift'. Check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting." message keeps appearing even after I manually drag and drop. Pls halp!
