General Questions

What do the different icons mean?
  • On a waypoint from left to right:
-- Visible/Invisible, Delete, Share, and Edit.
  • A checkmark appears in the top right when adding, editing, or sharing and is how to confirm your action.
  • For tribe members from left to right:
    -- Visible/Invisible and Edit.
  • When Sharing:
-- Checkbox at the very top is a select/deselect all box. Each tribe name gets a checkbox to select individually.

Can I set a waypoint for somewhere other than where I am standing like a certain latitude and longitude?
No, you cannot. The reason for this is that latitude and longitude does not take into account altitude, and that is not easy to find unless you are looking at the point in question. Taking a guess could mean the point could up under the map or way above it which does not help if you are marking something small like a cave entrance.

Can you make the waypoint show up on the map? I still have waypoints on the map?
No, you cannot. At this time it is something that may be looked at for a future version but is not in the immediate plans.
The original map markers are in the base Ark and were not overwritten or altered in any way. You can still add and delete those as normal.

Can I change a waypoint's location?
No, but you can make a new waypoint and delete the old one.

I don't like using F1, F2, or F3. Can I change it?
Yes you can! If you go into the settings menu in the UI (click on the gear) then you can set which keys you want for each option just for you.

What do you mean "tag a dino"?
When you have your crosshairs, or region where they would be, over a dino then you can press your dino key to tag them. This will put a waypoint on them that stays attached to them until you delete it or they die or despawn.

My tagged dino point disappeared?!
This happens when the dino dies and is eaten, despawns, or is uploaded.
This is also known to happen if you are in singleplayer, have hibernation on, and go out of render range.

Why can't I name my waypoint X? It keeps stopping after a certain point.
I have instituted a 45 letter limit (including spaces) on any waypoint name for readability.

Why can't I have more than X waypoints?
In order so that you can't tag everything that moves (think of the screen clutter!) there is a limit on waypoints per person. The default is 30, but the server admin has the option to set it up to 100 in the ini file.

How do I share a waypoint?
Click on the button that looks a little like a cloud next to the waypoint you want to share. The tribe member list on the right will change to say Share and give you checkboxes next to the names. You can click on the checkboxes of specific members you wish to share with, or click on the checkbox up top to select/deselect all members. Then click the Checkmark at the very top to share.

I didn't get a waypoint shared with me!
First, make sure you don't already have it. If you have a waypoint that is the same dino or the same spot, it won't add it to your list. To prevent message spam, it doesn't tell you if you already had it.

If this isn't the case and a second try doesn't resolve it, then please submit a bug ticket.

Tribe Member Tracking

I cannot tag a tribe mate anymore, what happened?
With the update on October 4th, I have disabled the ability to tag players in the same tribe as I added persistent tribe member tracking.

I have a list of waypoints on the left and tribe on the right. What?
Waypoints on the map and tagged dinos will appear on the left. Any known tribe members in the same tribe will appear on the right. This allows you to find a tribe member quicker than having them mixed in with the regular waypoints and makes it overall easier to use.

X is in the tribe, but he isn't showing up in the list?!
This is because you installed the mod into an already established server or updated from a pre-October version.
The mod keeps track of players and what tribe they are in only after they logged in after this update/install was made. So any tribe members that have not logged in since then cannot be tracked. However, even if they log on when you are not on, the server will still have recorded them and they will then show up for everyone in the tribe from that point forward.

Why can't I delete X? I don't want him in my tribe list.
In order to make tribe member tracking persistent, you cannot delete someone from your tribe member list. You can, however, turn off his point if you don't want to track his location anymore.

I host a non-dedicated server for a friend and myself. I recently added this mod and I cannot get him to show up on my tribe list. I have no idea what to do.
