Day of Infamy

Screaming Steel: 1914-1918
"SS14-18 not interfering with vanilla" meta.
Honestly, this needs to be dropped. We can't get many things, due to the fact that SS14-18 is trying it's best not to change vanilla when installed by any means, that means we will never have unique voice commands in the communication wheel like "GAS GAS GAS!" or something along those lines. Tying this mod to a dead horse that is DOI is a very bad idea, it limits you so much in so many ways. Just drop the meta, it's not worth the hassle. People can always use "-noworkshop" launch option if they want to play vanilla. Why downgrade the mod for something so stupid?

DOI itself is far from dead, at night and weekends it's well populated. NWI is only prioritizing the future release of the new Insurgency:Sandstorm but they still have not abandonned DOI.

Still, for the next 3 next month or so the game will not recieve updates.

The devs made their decision, and I believe it was the right one. We could all draw up a wishlist of features for the mod, but in the end I think you may be losing sight of what modding is about - working within limitations to create a new experience. NWI have been nothing but supportive through the development process, even devoting stream time and servers, all whilst they are busy developing Sandstorm. Do you see DICE doing that for their community? The fact that we even have new voice lines, if we so wish, is a testament to the effort in the team.
WW1 Source was already tied to the Source engine, would you rather Ashton and co start from scratch on Unreal 4 or Unity, and delay the project even further?

Porting to DOI was the absolute correct choice. It provided a stable platform that wasn't a million miles away from the original WW1:S vision, and the meta tweaks work well.

Thank you for the reply, I completely understand it. Though there is some cons to being limited, Ashton and the rest of the modders as always made the best decision there is.
Either way, I still believe NWi will come back, sooner or later, to improve DOI as well as SS14-18 at the same time.
Case closed.

PS: You missed my point a bit, but it's all fine, since the topic has been discussed and answered.
