Its been a big issue for us and other mods ever since the last petroglyph patch. I don't have a fix sadly.

Be very certain you do NOTHING while the game is saving. It can take a while but you gotta let it do its thing without interruption or alt tabbing. Don't even click the screen! That said, corrupt saves have always been an issue with this game and tbh I feel it was far worse before the patch.

I would recommend doing what I do... which is every time I save, I save twice. I always have a secondary back-up.
Having said that, I've had entire swaths of saves work just fine, until ONE of them is corrupted, and then suddenly, none of my saves will load without crashing the game. I lost an entire playthrough to that. :\
I'd progressed really far into the game, and when I went to load in the next day, it crashed. So I used the backup. Crashed. Tried to load each save going back over the course of weeks. Every last one of them....Crashed.
Sometimes... you're just screwed. :\ :(

GenesisKing did relay a tip in one of his recent YT AOTR episodes - never save close to end of, or beginning of week (should be at least 2 ticks away). Theory behind this was that scripts running adjacent to end/start of week break things if interrrupted by saving, or something like that. Is perhaps reasonable me thinks, the pre-patch long saving times perhaps allowed for these scripts to always finish as pre-patch this corruption never occured AFAIK.

This tip works for me so far am on W150 or so and no corrupted saves, but maybe just lucky... I did make around 1-2 save/week to individual files (removed manually when too many files to be shown in-game i.e. whan reaching 100 or so save files) so in perhaps 200 files no corruption yet so just maybe this workaround actually works :)

How much hard drive space do 100 saves take approximately ?

Around 6 GB. Normal HDDs/SSDs of today hold thousands of GBs so should not be an issue unless your PC is as old as the base game is ;)

I feel your pain, I lost a 3 hour session where I spanked 2 Belators, Arc Hammer, and 4 ISDs in a single battle (all hail the B-Wing)

The game is very unstable right now. I just started a space map and after loading when I pressed to start it just crashed. There is a town of crash to desktop issues right now.

yep just finished hoth chain missions for Empire, did the yaga minor missions, got Thrawn, got DS II before that and now my game map freezes up. kinda stinks really and going to start over. apparently if i build a DS II before Hoth it kinda bugs the story missions and got locked out of Tier 4 tech.
