This is a very interesting find. I will need to try and figure out how to fix this. Your workaround isnt really a fix as people won't know to pause and go in to the option screen to reset it. So I will need to figure out a fix.
Thank you so much for pointing this out and I will work today on trying to resolve it. Please keep in mind though that this isn't really a bug because the free camera mode is not actually meant to be part of the base game. It's actually part of the cheats but nonetheless, I want to fix it anyway :-)

Also, this is unrelated but need to ask if you know a key command to remove the game icons without using photo mode?
I found a work around, would not say it's legal but best I can do for now
