Punic Military in Detail
The Western Phoenicians have only few native troops availible to them at one given time. These are Independant of City politics but change with unlocking certain Skills.

(these are all Type-Names, ingame they have native names which will change once I get that dictionary int he Mail)

Phase 1 - Levantine Settlers with Equipment of assyrian Style
- Syrian Spearmen (basic Spearmen) - Replaced in Phase 2
- Syrian Cavalry (Long Range Cavalry) - Replaced in Phase 2
- Syrian Guard (Hardy heavy Infantry) - Replaced in Phase 2
- Levantine Infantry (Archers) - Replaced in Phase 4
- Phoenician Sailors (naval Archers)

Phase 2 - Greek Imports (Greek wares Skill)
- Punic Heavy Infantry(Hoplites) - Replaced in Phase 3
- Punic Citizen Cavalry(medium Cavalry)
- Sacred Band Infantry(heavy Hoplites) - Replaced in Phase 3 - also requires a Temple
- Phoenician Marines (Javelin infantry)

Phase 3 - Mercenary Contractors (Social Reform)
- Libyan Skirmisher(javelineer)
- Libyan Spearmen(medium Infantry)
- Punic Militia (light Hoplites)

Phase 4 - Lords of the West (military Reforms)
- Libyphoenician Cavalry(heavy Cavalry) - also requires Colonization
- African Elite Infantry (Heavy Infantry) - also requires Colonization
- Elephants (Elephants, nuf said!) - also requires an Elephant Port

Not all Reforms Improve your Roster, for example Syrian Cavalry is a lot better than Punic Citizen Cavalry and Punic Milita is no match for Punic Heavy Infantry. So don't rush those Skillresearches. Also keep in mind that many Punic Troops can only be trained in Coastal cities.
However that's only one side of the story, on the other are all the extra Mercenaries Punics have access to and the availibility of Embassies in conquered cities, that provide you with a wide selection of local troops. Embassies can even be further upraded with the right Skill research(in the Military Tree), en route increacing the amount of mercenaries availible in EVERY town you controll.

Вроде все условия выполнены, а африканская элитная пехота не нанимается. Некий неизвестный атрибут не выполнен. Что за условие?

Я не говорю́ по-ру́сски.

I assume You meant that the Elite African Infantry is greyed out and it tells you that "Unknown Attribute" is missing?

That is a mistake. I will fix it with the next update. Thank you for reporting.

(I'm not at home right now so I can't be sure)

Thanks.
How do I get an elephant port? It's greyed out but doesn't give a reason.

Elephant port needs:

Open Water Access
Military reforms(the final skill on the left)
500 wood
2000 gold
native Punic city
I'm trying to build it in the Carthaginian capital city in this mod's Unification version. It fits all of those criteria, but it's still greyed out.

ack! That one actually seems to be a typo on my part.

For now try to add the attribute via console:

getplayerfaction():setattribute("militaryreform", 1)

this is awesome but where is the Libyan swordsmen and heavy swordsmen that Hannibal had in the roman invasion also where is the Phoenician Citizen swords or levy swords at

Iirc there were two reasons not to include them:

1. When I made this there had just been some controversy around those in other mods(for total war etc.). Essentially hannibal just ad hoc having reequipped his men with Roman (swordy) gear and there was no indication of a regular use.

2. There is limited space in the ui + concept and. Carthage is designed with a narrow native roster that HAS to be augmented with locals and mercs to fulfill its mission. They already have top tier cav + archers, plus well documented spear infantry. So naturally the badly sourced and improbable units were cut.

And I've never seen any concept with levy/citizen swordsman for Carthage. That just seems way outside doctrine and in the scope of ancient warfare as a whole dubious.
