that's intentional, it's supposed to start off thin and curvy and then come out rectangular. it's mostly because i wanted to kind of make it look like a identification symbol for the transhuman soldiers, if you look closely at the combine elite's helmet you'll see it starts off a little thin as well. but i appreciate you wanting to help me out

Might I suggest getting the models onto blender and using the stencil tool to repaint the helmet stripes? This could help this the upward pinch.
