Description
There is currently a bug in macOS, Linux, and SteamOS where messages are not output when typing effects are turned on.

RPG Dialog

Now, enjoy RimWorld events as if you're playing an RPG!

This mod transforms all of RimWorld's event messages into an RPG-style dialogue box, making it feel like the storyteller is speaking directly to the player.





Key Features
  • RPG-Style Dialogue Box: All major events, such as raids, cargo pod crashes, and inspirations, are now displayed in a new dialogue window with the storyteller's portrait.

  • Typing Effect and Sound: A typing effect displays the storyteller's message one letter at a time, accompanied by a unique sound for each storyteller to enhance immersion.

  • Extensive Customization: The mod's settings menu allows you to toggle typing sound effects, customize the typing sounds, storyteller portraits and names. You can configure various options to your liking. (Customization is possible in \Sounds\Typing and \Textures\UI\Storyteller, respectively).

  • Multilingual Support: Currently supports Korean and English.

Compatibility
This mod alters the core way the game displays events. It is compatible with most mods, but it may not be compatible with other UI mods or mods that directly modify event messages.

A way to block some letters would be nice, like psycast level gained and other messages that repeat too often. Or compatibility with B.U.M.? I like it very much but my psycaster colony is spamming psycast level gained messages and it's driving me crazy :steamsad:

this is a nitpick but the storyteller are very low res, they look ugly

when i let my game idea and it gets to many letters it bugs out and i have to close all the letters and reload the save then i can get it to unbug and read one of the letters

@loli_nymph If you're using a vanilla storyteller, simply replace the file in the folder.
For modded storytellers, use that storyteller's defName as the filename and add it to the folder.

@Alpaga I've run a test, and I didn't encounter the infinite loop issue during the naming event after a birth. It seems like it might be a conflict with another mod.

 Hey, I like this mod’s concept.

Here to report what seems to be a bug : after childbirth, you get an event that asks you to name the child, which includes multiple text fields. However, what happened with RPG Dialog is that it seemed to be caught in an infinite loop with no text displayed. I couldn’t close the RPG Dialog box, so I disabled the mod.

Sorry, I should have taken a screenshot and more details, but basically : the naming dialog box at childbirth seems to bug this mod.

the typing effect feels laggy since it goes like half a word at a time, maybe you could add an option for it to type just a single letter at a time
